Re: AC Pilots Successfully Defend Air Ontario Pilots Lawsuit.

I see that this thread has been resurrected. Please note that the links in the first few pages are no longer valid, as I shut down the Fly Past 60 web site several years ago. You can find the cases referred to in those links by searching www.canlii.org, which is the legal database created by the Law...

Re: Old Collective Agreements

I kept the collective agreements for all the major Canadian carriers circa 2002. I put them in storage, with my closed files in YWG sometime around 2005. Not sure if I still have them stored, as I did purge a lot of those files after seven years. I will be back in WG next week and will advise.

FAA UAV Remote ID Requirement To Become Law

Earlier this year the FAA introduced a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) requiring drones operating in the USA to have software installed that transmits a number of data streams to allow remote identification of the specific drone, its location, its launch point and several other parameters. The...

Re: Air Canada Denying Pax Compensation

Two weeks ago my son was traveling full-fare from YYZ to DCA (Ronald Reagan, close to downtown) on a flight leaving around 4:00 PM. His flight was cancelled, apparently, " due to weather ," according to the text message that he received advising him of the cancellation. There was no issue with the Y...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

In the late 1970's, when I was on the WAWCON Committee (when Bob Pearson was the Chair of our negotiating team) we used to refer to these types of disclosures as "dirty laundry." It's a very safe bet to assume that almost everybody has some. Often, it is what is not disclosed that is critical in dec...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

... it’s almost a certainty that someone who works for pivot was aware of what was going on. Whether it was the crew members operating, or someone back at home base, or both. I think you need to watch American Gangster and see how this all works. Almost all of these operations involve contracts wit...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

If there is a lesson to be learned here, practically speaking, from a lawyer with some experience in these matters, report it on arrival in YYZ, not prior departure. Do not allow yourself to be subjected to the vagaries of a "third world" judicial system, and do not assume the the judicial system fr...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

It's almost a certainty that none of the crew had any clue. They arrived the day before, had a short layover, and arrived at the airport an hour or so before the outbound flight. The aircraft had been on the ground there for over four days. The crew obviously didn't lug 200 KG of cocaine from their ...

Re: Crew Stranded in Punta Cana -- Had a Similar Experience?

It is here to alert anyone at Air Canada operating into or out of Punta Cana that the same thing could happen to them. Show up at the airport one hour before your scheduled flight and wind up in a hell-hole jail charged with drug trafficking, or worse, not charged but stuck in a jail and not allowed...

DJI Mini 3 Pro

DJI just announced today the availability of the Mini 3 Pro. This aircraft will be a game-changer for one big reason. Not only does it have a 48 MPx camera and 12 MPx Video camera, but at 249 grams, it falls under the 250 g limit above which it requires Transport Canada registration and approval to ...

'To' old or 'Too' old. It's probably not about age, in your case. Having said that, age discrimination is illegal in Canada, as Air Canada painfully found out in refusing to hire pilots on the basis of age: https://www.canlii.org/en/ca/fca/doc/1985/1985canlii3113/1985canlii3113.html?autocompleteStr=...

Check out the NAV Drone web page.
