Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Any updates on the latest hiring rumors, I have heard from several different credible sources that things are going to slow down for the summer, but also that things always change. Any speculative or educated guesses out there want to chime in? Will they continue to interview throughout the summer o...

Good for you guys and thankyou for trying to improve conditions for everyone, no matter what company you operate for.

We will see if the government forces an end to the strike vote by the end of the weekend!

Re: Interview

To be brief and to the point: 1) Interviewer was very welcoming, to the point, informal in a formal way. A positive experience. 2) The video interview is a half decent tutorial for the face to face interview. 3) Psych test is a real gem. 4) After close to 25 years in the industry, no matter what ha...

Re: Swoop hiring foreign scabs

Seeing as the current guys starting are; a Cargojet Captain, a Porter pilot, a previous Sunwing/87 instructor whos now Swoop training standards, maybe a Barrick Gold Captain, even Encore's VP of flight ops and some Sky Regional people... they are getting a mix! I am surprised that none of these guy...

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

Unfortunately many employed there have vested interest in the company's performance, a la stocks. Not sure if kiboshing performance metrics in the interest of a political statement will be a thing. Doubt many Westjetters feel like "owners" anymore  . Trust in business is a curiously fickle an...

Probably a pretty tough decision to make at the time and moment I am sure.. But they'd hang you out to dry if something happened to your plane and you didn't evacuate. Prob at the end of a long day as well just to compound the wtf is going on factor.

Re: Jumping from airline to corporate?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't mean to undervalue working for a management company. It was after reading some of the comments above that I perhaps formulated the question in the wrong way. I strongly believe biz aviation in general has a lot more to offer to the right type of individuals than airli...

Re: Jumping from airline to corporate?

The problem with those increase is they can be snatched away at the blink of an eye, A little harder in a unionized airline environment. A great Corporate job can turn into a crappy corporate job pretty quickly. Thats why I bailed. The only thing I miss is the hotels and rental cars.

Re: 2017 NBAA numbers are out

The problem with those great corporate gigs is that they are so few and far between and when one comes up the entire north end of YYZ applies, plus management companies are constantly trying to insert themselves into those good jobs. I miss those nice layovers myself but going airline route has more...

I guess they should have provided some "hush money" to the pilots to keep this under the radar, but we all know thats not how things work. Not a good PR story for either airline. yay CBC.

Re: Liberals to lift foreign ownership of domestic airlines

Foreign incestment brings lower wages? Have you looked at the average pilot wage in Canada lately? Why do you think they are so low? There are a few who earn good wages but the majority have to commute long hours to work, and work long duty times since Transport needs 18 years to study safety. Why?...
