Re: Cargo TA
When comparing to Cargojet, dont forget to include the 1200 shares @$78 all CJT pilots got who were hired before April 2020 got, unless they took the 100k cash. It was a contract extension of 3 years vested %50 at 4 and 7 years. But its worth aprox 250k now. Retirement benefits are %2 ( terrible), m...

It seems everybody and everything is a social state entity these days with their hands out.
Nothing can fail.

Re: Layoffs
I think it's a slum-dunk that TC will defer the new FTD rules for at least a year if not two; the industry has survived without them for this long and increased costs is the last thing it needs to be heaved upon it. That will eliminate 300-500 positions that were in the last equipment assignment. R...

Re: Layoffs
Talk about thread drift....unreal. I'm betting on the "cheap" folks doing better than the YOLO crowd. While under traditional economic circumstances, you would be undoubtedly correct. However, current cost of living in our Canadian cities after essentially selling out the middle class has cre...

My point is his cheap ass couldn’t enjoy it and now it is gone. He doesn’t seem too worried. He still has lots.
Your missing the point

Re: Layoffs
Even the most conservative investor could have easily lost 50% of their portfolio. The stock market as a whole lost 70% in value so actually the average person who didn't sell anything lost 70%. This has nothing to do with volatility, it is a crash. Yikes, where did you get your MBA? Everest colleg...

Re: Layoffs
If I could give a guy who owns a L39, some B1 passes to retire, I would. But surely you can just buy the tickets. 10k is a lot, but not when you have millions. My dad lost $700k in the stock market in this. Worked so hard his whole life (not airlines). Total Alberta blue collar work horse Deserves ...

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?
Any word on what's happening with Jazz? Lay offs certain to happen at Jazz. Once AC decides what they need but given what has already been announced. I would say all transborder flying that Jazz does on behalf of AC is gone. As AC is cutting back on domestic requirements there will likewise be a re...

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?
I have seen 4 industry downturns. This one will be massive. It will take out everything from Float Operations to Wide Body Jet jobs and it will take a decade to recover, if it ever does return to the level we were at. Peoples investments are gone, interest rates are zero, so there is nowhere for go...

Re: Who's gotten a lay off?
I know for me and most people my age 40ish, the minute this is over I'm living my best life. This is like being grounded as a kid, the minute that you where let out, you went flying out of the house like a bomb of energy. I feel once we are through this, people are going to be ready to live and trav...

But I also see now CMHC is also trying to defer people's mortgage payments for up to 6 months, bending over backwards to keep this ponzi scheme going..

Re: Could this be the pin to pop the housing bubble?
LOL  FYI Even though the BOC lowered the overnight rate by 1% the banks are actually increasing rates due to risk. Also FYI CMHC just announced the proposed changes that were to take affect in April are on hold. We are heading for mass layoffs and a recession. Expect the prices of homes t...

Re: Could this be the pin to pop the housing bubble?
It will all depend on how dramatic the containments get (provincial/city quarantines and business closures like Italy) and for the duration of how long this last. The low interest rates + relaxation of the mortgage stress test in April could lead to a sellers market and give a huge bump to house pr...

Re: Could this be the pin to pop the housing bubble?
The economy runs on faith and perception, much more than reality - and the government knows this, so they will do everything possible to ensure that the wheels continue to turn just enough to keep money moving. Agree %100, but will it be enough this time, we shall see. This is much harder hole to p...
