Re: X/Wind corrections.

cross controllig an aircraft is too lose altitude fast when one makes a mistake or requires it for gradiant requirements ONLY. i find it funny this has stemed from a post on the flight training section of avcanada. i have flown with many instructors and i would never let any of my kids learn from 99...

Re: Employee or Contractor?

who owns the aircraft? who holds the insurance?

ive worked as a contract pilot for a few operators and the main issue legally is liability. what happens if you f up someones aircraft, what happens if you hurt someone.

my advice, get a good contract written up by a lawyer or become an employee.

a true challenge, WEATHER, fuel, route and maintenance i know its been said but filter, filter, filter. make sure the drums are sealed, unopened and take a sample. last year in rankin inlet there was a small twin on route to europe that had a double engine failure due to contaminated fuel. m and t i...

just curious, at what stage do people usually get the PFO?
is it comon to get PFO'd after youve gone so far as to do the medical or reference checks?
or are most people getting PFO'd after the sim or interview?

Re: Wam Air-Pine Dock.

i saw an ad for the whole operation in a real estate magazine. i cant remember the price.

it is a good time to sell, it would be hard to make money out of pine dock when the new
road goes up the coast in a few years.

i have worked with someone in the recent past who went to this company and all the stories were true.

the sad part is many will apply and someone would stab someone else for this job.

Re: Question about the Caravan from a weekend warrior.....

stand by elec, standby flaps, yes but who cares.... this is the simplest vfr platform going. it always starts, never shock cools, and as long as (as a weekend warrior) you keep it vfr and respect it, you will have no problem (big 172). flight safety is a must, it will help with the insurance and if ...

Re: Question about the Caravan from a weekend warrior.....

the pilatus and the caravan are both very easy aircraft to fly. although 8 hours a month is not desireable, it can be safe.
the caravan is easier to fly than a 172 but make sure you get proper training.

i amagine your insurance will be fairly steep!
