Know Your Worth & Ask For It

Going to keep this really short. -In my position I am reviewing pilot resumes -I agree that employers should post their pay with their job adds. -Some employers don’t want to post the pay and there is nothing that I can do about that. -At the same time I’m trying to advocate for pay that is more inl...

Nope, no Navajo experience for sale. Cardinal does manage a Navajo but it is purely a management arrangement for a private owner. Next concern?

Re: FlightCrew.ca

Not the same bunch. Flightcrew.ca is part of Cardinal Aviation. Not getting involved in job adds, no email spamming u less there is a suitable job pairing, everything above board, no email sharing, everything confidential. It truly is a group of (employed) pilots working to try and help both pilots ...

Re: IFR training schedule

For Vancouver plan Mon-Fri 0700-1500. No breaks except stats. There is a possibility of a few weeks between generic and specialty depending how the generic course goes. Basically you can kiss your entire summer good bye and you should probably tell your friends and family that you are not available....

Re: Which FIR region in Canada gives you the best chance of getting into IFR

Why the instance on IFR? Both training streams are incredibly challenging. I recommend to people to take what they get. You odds at a licence are better if you start VFR then you can bid into IFR after 3 years with the security of return rights to your VFR unit. In the last contract they froze all s...

Re: How long did any of you current controllers/trainees take to get your offer

I'm going to call it how I see it. You said that you have been on HR like white on rice with emails and telephone calls. Perhaps you may have put it on a little thick. This job takes a fine balance of being motivated but also being somewhat laid back. Keep in mind that just because you are in the po...

Re: If Nav Canada can't reach you via phone to give you a course offer, will they send you an offer by email?

My course offer came to my cellphone which I answered while in a pool in Mexico. My phone never left my side and that call made the trip so much better.

Re: Etiquette with gift to OJI upon checkout

I just stumbled across this thread now. I qualified IFR 2 years ago and hearing the words "here is your license" what by far the biggest sense of relief that I have ever had. I consider my self a good trainee but not the easiest to train and I was on the ropes a few times. My OJIs worked tirelessly ...

Need a hand in ZPC, YQL, YXH or YYN heating my engine

Hi All, I've sold the Cessna and will be delivering it from Vancouver to the new owner in Saskatchewan as soon as I get a good weather window. Since the aircraft has lived on the west coast for its whole life it isnt equipped with pre-heaters and I don't have engine blankets. With the short days it ...

Re: Carson Air Captain blood alcohol 0.24 at time of crash.

While I hate useless speculation as an aviation professional I find this information to be especially disturbing. It speaks to culture and professionalism and quite frankly puts a negative light on all of us as aviation professionals. It raises questions like did the contents of the plane have any b...

Taildragger Kitfox in Vancouver Area

Does anyone have a taildragger Kitfox in the greater Vancouver area? I am looking into one and would like to go for a spin and see how it fits in a hangar with another aircraft with the wings folded.

Thanks

You hare responsible to pay NavCanada the tuition prior to course start if you are selected.
I may be a little off but my tuition for IFR was approximately $4000. It is less for VFR.
