Re: Why in the world???
I heard that one of the Sky Regional Q400 pilots in training is a retired AC pilot.
Quite a change in pay and lifestyle from the top of the AC pyramid.
Now that's gotta be for the love of flying.

Yes, that all terrible... but trying being junior and having thousands of some other company's employees traveling on C2's ahead of you! Now THAT sucks!

Re: AC Extends Flight Attendant Max Age to 70?
ACPA is doing exactly what it's mandate requires it to do. WAWCON shows over %80 of pilots want retirement at age 60. What other choice does ACPA have other than to proceed with the mandate that the membership has given them? To do otherwise would be against their constitution. I appreciate that my ...

Re: schedules for new hires
Ouch... a Winnipeg commute. My family is from Manitoba and it's a challenge every time I try to go home to visit on passes. Since they closed the Flight Attendant base there are so many senior FA's commuting out of there, plus the loads are usually always tight. Can't rely of the jump seat because o...

Where will you be commuting from? I know some commuters who spend more nights at home than YYZ based pilots due to the layover.

My suggestion... just create a whole new profile!
I updated mine for a couple of years, when my friend suggested that I try creating a new one. I did, and 2 weeks later got the call for the interview. So... it can't hurt to just start fresh.

Re: Junior Pilots, you have control!
I see a tremendous opportunity for the 800 plus recently hired pilots to have a voice and make some serious changes here at AC. It is your future and your airline, take control. Over and Out. 800 plus... and counting!!! We are learning, organising, and trying to get the message out. I'm hoping the ...

Plus, you can always jumpseat on WJ.
Also, if you bid YHZ layovers, you can be at home more than a YYZ pilot.

The remaining YYZ and YUL reps are only dedicated to one issue and haven't seen the ball since kick off. . Really? And what is that one issue? Seniority? One of these MEC members is of the new hire generation and could give a care less about seniority. In talking with these MEC reps they are flaber...

I don't like that about the online application. I'm not sure how it does it's scoring either. For me, the first time I tried to fill out the application, I didn't completely finish. I wanted to take some extra time to come up with good answers to the short answer questions. But when I clicked the sa...

True, but here's the loophole, there is no requirement to use AC's medical department. There is nothing stopping you from going to your own medical examiner instead.

Re: Hiring Rumors...
Ok time to dust off this thread again, here is a new rumour fresh from the line. 1.) 4 PIT (Pilot Indoctrination Training) classes this fall. I don't have dates or number of new hires. Class sizes in the past average between 12 - 18. Any one else hear this? Another interesting developement. With Mex...

Wow, now there was some major thread drift. Back on topic... here are a couple more logs to throw on the fire that I've heard on the line. These deal with how short we are: 1. From a reliable desk... we needed to hire yesterday... the company is just waiting on the age 60 situation. 2. They are so s...

Common... I know they are out there. Here's the 2 that I've heard.... from a friend of a friend that knows someone who's a friend of so and so etc... 1. The guy who's in charge of re-tooling the PIT (Pilot Indoc Training) class was told to hurry up. 2. 700 New Hire's It's really not a matter of IF t...

Toronto Apartments for Rent
Hi all, I just bought a house in the High Park area of Toronto and I have two 1 bedroom units for rent. The house is at 7 Indian Rd Cres. Toronto. Nearest Intersection is Bloor/Keele. It is right at the Keele Subway station. Literally a 30 second walk and you are on the subway. Perfect for getting t...

Thanks.

You do get them "immediately" but it still takes time for you to be entered in the system and then you have to call and wait on hold forever to get your pin number to access the travel site. But, I think everyone had it sorted out before the end of the first week of class. So you can go home. I pers...

You're Welcome.
I'm pretty confident all positions are for Toronto base. You can bid for a different base on the next equipment bid after you start... if there are positions available and your seniority can hold it.

For those who are anxiously awaiting news, here is some intel.
2 March courses
1 April course
Mostly Embraer, but a few 767 RP spots.
Then they are taking a break for the summer. Expect training courses to start again in the fall.
Good luck.

While I don't understand the whole process, this info I know is true as told to us by the V.P. of flight ops in our Pilot Indoc Class. The online app scores you on 7 points.
