Re: IFR question (Aerocourse Workbook 6th edition (a))

Ahh, there it is!
I read (several times) the exact line in the AIM, and the landing just did not register...

Thanks for the quick response guys.

IFR question (Aerocourse Workbook 6th edition (a))

I'm at a bit of a loss regarding question 81 in the Flight Planning & IFR Procedures section. The answer in the back makes reference to the following TAF: TAF CYWL 151630Z 1517/1605 26015G25 3SM SN FG OVC010 PROB40 1520/1523 2SM SN FG 0VC007 First of all, is 0VC007 a typo for OVC007, or is it really...

Re: So you think you can ride...

For a good portion from 4:15 onward, the video is sped up and dubbed... clearly, which brings into question the other (less noticeable) parts of the video.

Lame!

Your muscle car analogy betrays a lack of knowledge on the subject.
A quick study of how ESHP is calculated will clearly show that it has nothing to do with gearbox and/or parasitic losses.

Re: Free flying for any newbies out there

I take it you'll be going to Mandarin for lunch. The Hammer and the Shwa are probably Ontario's best cities. But seriously, I hope you will tour around before you go back. There are much nicer places around here, not to mention the rest of Canada. Anyway, if you can't get a hold of anyone pre-...

Re: Lost Plane near YTH ~ YOH

Seems like you could use allot of shoreline/mountain range on that route. Did you?
Regardless, I agree map reading is essential, but I sure as hell wouldn't make such a general statement at trampbike.

Re: Lost Plane near YTH ~ YOH

I agree... Flying VFR, I think I'd rather have no GPS and no Nav instruments, and have good up to date maps that I thoroughly studied before the flight and have them close to me during the flight. :? Have you ever flown even remotely north (no towns, roads, powerlines etc. to follow)? If yes, what ...

Confirm with the examiner.
My guess is he'll want you to keep the turn going.

For whats its worth I did my multi ride about 2 months ago. I kept the turn going and got a 4.

Re: Twin Otter question

Wha? Are you refering to the ventral-dorsal guiding feathers?

My guess:
They increase directional stability in order to counteract the opposite effect of the floats.

First of all, I'm really not that concerned about the issue of duplicate threads or anything that has to do with the structure and/or "tidiness" of this forum. I mearly wanted to state that I was watching this exact same video when the earthquake hit and that I'll never forget it. Second of all, its...

Re: most popular float trainer?

I have very limited experience on floats.

I did my float rating on a PA12 Super Cruiser. It made sense and it sure wasn't hard.
Lots of fun, but I can't attribute it to the stick in particular.

IMO, you'll enjoy learning to flying floats regardless of the airplane.
