Re: Flair still searching for capital infusion
…in this business economy of scale is so tremendously important…Jetlines, Lynx, Flair and Porter all said they’d have 50 tails etc etc etc. J and L are gone, Porter is 44 or so and taking deliveries….Flair is down to 19 or 20…and with none on order from Boeing, massive competition from Ryanair, Eas...

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
But can they stop Flair from bringing in anymore aircraft until they're up to date? Already said they won't be taking a tail this year and blamed it on Boeing timing, but maybe CRA has something to do with it too. Those quick captain upgrades must have dried up in a hurry, well unless there are actu...

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
I'm not sure how CRA can take the planes since they're not owned by Flair, maybe the ones owned by 777?
Flairs assets amount to not much more than cash from future bookings (also a liability) and some office supplies.

Rumor is Flair is losing pilots and it could start to impact flying, anyone have any evidence of this? Would intensify the cash flow problems in a hurry.

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
I've heard rumors of late payments for a while now, but didn't realize there was anything close to this size. Will the government let them take any more aircraft until these importation duties are paid off? Add this to whatever else they may be behind on, plus the 2-3 hundred million they've publicl...

Re: Reserve out of base
The funny thing about this, at most companies that I know of, pay is based on duty period, so these red eyes would be the same credit at Jazz but with Flair paying like a duty period but deducting two calendar days if sick, an arbitrator would look at this an apply the calendar day for pay purposes...

Re: Reserve out of base
Management said they never intended to follow a calendar day for either duty or pay purposes. Our Red-eye turn flights are considered one duty day (not two calendar days) unless you call in sick. Then the company is deducting two sick days. This results in most crews being underpaid 3 hours for eve...

Re: 4 Flair aircraft seized
Looking at todays Flair flights, don’t see any cancelled flights. Meanwhile WJ has cancelled their YYC-YKF flight. Obviously this is very rocky for Flair at the moment, I’m holding some optimism. Any airline going out of business does no good for Canadian aviation. Shame on the ones on here rooting...

Re: Ground School Invites
Someone should let Alaska know they're doomed. The Canadian market is saturated and it's just not possible for all the currently planned capacity to come to fruition over the next few years without some collateral damage. Difficult for me to see how after years of massive losses Flair can stay solve...

Re: Ground School Invites
Totally honest question, with most airlines looking for pilots why would someone pick Flair? Seems like the highest risk option out there besides maybe Jetlines.

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Having lived thru 3 pilots strikes in my career, one of which I voted for, a few thoughts for my friends at WJ. If the company isn't entering into "meaningful" bargaining, then you get nowhere without a strike vote. How much leverage the strike vote gives your negotiators varies with circumstances....

Re: Westjet Pilots Vote Against Expanding Widebody Fleet
This is a so full of BS. You can argue the company side till your face turns blue but pilot's wages are so miniscule in the grand scheme of things. Even one of WJ's previous EVP's was on record stating so. As it stands right now, WJ gets some of the cheapest pilots and by far the most productive. P...

Are they able to issue the 72 hours notice during the cooling-off period so they could actually strike Monday or does it have to wait until the cooling-off period ends so they earlies they could strike would be March 3rd?

I believe these flights actually go through Ft Mcmurray, so it's really not any better than going through Edmonton or Calgary to a vacation destination, is it:?:

Re: Q400 vs ATR
While I do think it will eventually be a Q400 deal, the overall lower cost and fuel savings (especially in light of $100+ oil) from the ATR will make this a closer decision than most people think.

Blame the accountants who think training is nothing more than an expense to be reduced as much as possible, and flight operations management who too easily acquiesce. That's total BS. I'm an accountant who has worked specifically on company wide cost saving initiatives. Nothing that would touch any...
