This Pic shows the right...hmmm someone forget to do up the cowl latches?? DOH! No doubt they checked the radiator and the windscreen washer volume and forgot to do up the bonnet catch? So you've ruled out cowls blown off with engine problems? Save doing an investigation, all the airline nee...

Re: Crop dusting with PA-25 : 500hrs spraying minimum ?
Using that logic the first person to fly anything (such as a test pilot) is a fool. A test pilot is first taught to fly before he steps into the unkown, even then he follows proceedures. All I was saying is it is a good start to get the basics. I'm sure even very expirenced pilots will say they are...

Re: Crop dusting with PA-25 : 500hrs spraying minimum ?
Sounds like you haven't done any AG rating as such? I know it's not a legal requirement in your country but it is in virtually every other. The old proverb of "He who teaches himself to fly has a fool for an instructor" springs to mind. Some have an insurance requirement of certain hours, it's hard ...

From a know nothing outsider I'd say as a floatplane it would make a pretty good boat.

Re: Multi grade oil or W-100 oil in the Beaver
+1 for Multi-Grade. Our Beaver Engine is coming on TBO and still running strong. Pretty individual sort of thing, depends on engine overhaul and to what standard as to how your engine runs to TBO. Before multi grade stuff became trendy used to just run 100 then 120 in hotter (30C+) weather. Engines...

Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association
That's a Lame organisation, with emphisis on the "L" for "Licenced".
I would hardly call them grease monkeys.

Re: First Flight in a Beaver
My first ride was in or around 1964, as a youngster. My first fly was 1980, flew them for just over 16 years. In 31 years flying for a living the Beaver has stood out as the nicest machine to work. They were all individuals, early one's were better performers normally. I consider myself privileged t...

Re: Aviator Jacket & Watches
To round out this thread it needs a discusion on what size wings to put on the oforementioned leather jacket. Tacky plastic one's to complement the faux fur? Great big brass eagle one's clasping a company logo? Discrete smaller one's tactfully placed on the lapel?

Sorry to drag out an old thread, just wondering if
Cdnpilot77, Ragwingflyer, Beechnut and North Shore have read the washup of the this thread?
As I stated earlier I was not bagging out on Canadian's, there had to be more.

Re: Liquid freight?
I have to agree with you folks a Fletcher doesn't compare to an 802, 802 4000 litre load Over 2 million set up for fuel hauling You need a very expirenced pilot to fly it To carry a full load you need at least 1200 metres (3,936') nil wind 150 knots ferry-320 litres an hour fuel flow. Is it over 12,...

Liquid freight?
Is there any call for an aircraft that could carry 1200 litres of bulk diesel? This machine would carry that load off a 400 metre strip. Certified single engine machine, cruise speed 105 knots loaded.

Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
If there truely was a shortage there would be no problem, if that is the actual wage then as I said there would be a long line up of very quailified people. There are also Canadian pilots coming out here for the summer firebombing when there are more than a few highly quailified Australians looking ...

Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
If the conditions are as you state Philly you won't have any trouble getting people. I can think of a few current AG blokes with plenty of Beaver time who would be keen for a stable job.
