Re: CARs Amendments re Drones Effective June 1, 2019
As a retired TC Inspector and recreational drone enthusiasts. I think TC has gone overboard. Much like TC did regarding ultra-light aeroplanes. When I was in the apartment this sort of thing was called "empire building". My Phantom 4 has built in systems that will not allow it to start the motors in...

Re: top AME and QA pay differences
Good points everyone, However, I have yet to see any company where the AE, PRM or DOM has delegated the QA function to another person or even the QAM. The AE is the bottom line with any certificate issued by Transport Canada. TC wants a "person" to be responsible. Not a "board of directors" or "limi...

Re: Jail time for a DOM
There is always more than meets the eye. What is conspicuously absent is any blame on the USFS for the way they issue their contracts. Empty weight of the a/c is a significant deal maker in the awarding of their contracts. Not to condone falsifying documents, but USFS puts a high demand on having t...

Re: top AME and QA pay differences
Not to mention getting sh*t on constantly. MMMM brings me back to the bully thing. Until the QAM directly and only reports to the AE, nothing will ever change. That dotted line in the company org. chart between the QAM and the AE is known as the "hangman line". You only get to use it once going aro...

Re: production manager vs QA manager
I agree with much of what's been said. I think in smaller organizations, QA (because it's been around for so long on the maintenance side) is sometimes synonymous with production manager or chief engineer, especially to those with old school thinking, but in reality is should be ...

I would agree with the AME. Was the STC recently installed?

Re: On Condition and Life Limits
Air cooled means tolerances are looser, so aircraft engines don't like running cold and constant power changes (a car engine only needs 15 seconds to have the combustion chambers up to temp, even though your coolant gauge is at zero).
Well I have to disagree with "Air cooled means tolerances...

Re: production manager vs QA manager
I have done both jobs including DOM & a TC CASI. Being a QA auditor is the best. Being the QAM is the most thankless job in aviation. Transport Canada is happy to assign the responsibility of CAR's compliance to the company. As long as the audit reports shine and the NCF are closed they go away unti...

Most likely the exit door. After 22 years of QA trust me when I say the money ain't worth it.

Re: College of Pilots?
Don't be fooled by all the SMS & QA buzz words. The Ivory Tower hasn't a clue on the real word. This will give you a laugh. I presented TC with a factual case of bogus primary flight control parts operating in a commercial helicopter. A year later after alot of political pushing TC concluded that it...
