Re: Possible course scheduling and personal conflict
The wedding itself should not be an issue. Classes generally run Mon-Fri, so unless you're getting married during the week it won't be an issue. Unfortunately any wedding stuff you need to do beforehand should be done around the class, but an occasional day off during training is possible, provided ...

I thought that airspace was always under FAA control because of how close it is to Metro. I think Canada has control over some American airspace as well.

Re: IFR or VFR employment situtation in Gander or St. John's
With the regional training, expect to be posted somewhere in the Edmonton FIR. When you qualify at your unit, by contract, it is at least 3 years before you can apply for a seniority bid somewhere else, but since you will be the lowest on the totem pole, expect to realistically wait at least 5.

Re: Crop Dusting
What are the regs for crop dusting near power lines? Ban for life is dumb. Do we ban people from driving again after they pull one stupid move? No, they get punished and hopefully learn their lesson for next time. If he has had a history of this type of behaviour then perhaps a ban is the right move.

Re: VFR route planning Ottawa -> Niagara; Transiting the US
There could be potential issues with VFR flight plans through the US in terms of flight following. From what I have heard, often times flight following doesn't automatically transfer to the American counter part and you may have to request it again through whichever procedure they have. Please corre...

Re: March 11 2013 Air Canada Incident YYZ Embraer and a Van
It looks like ATC did not use proper RT. They ommited Air Canada prefix in both instructions to go around. Big mistake by ATC. The prefix is used to draw the pilots attention they the transmission is for and Air Canada airplane. Otherwise it gets past the filter. Incident: Air Canada E190 at Toront...

Re: information sur la reconnaissance de diplome
I don't speak French well enough to reply in it, so hopefully you speak English. You must be able to speak English to work in ATC anyway. As far as I know, Nav Canada doesn't officially recognize diplomas in Air Navigation for ATC jobs. Even if you get your diploma officially translated from Ukraini...

What's the Nova Scotia story?
For a Russian bird, the An-2 is pretty damn good. Out of the 18,000+ built it only has 387 hull-losses..according to Wikipedia, so that could very well be a made up fact. But c'mon - no stall speed!

ABX Air is an American company, headquartered in Ohio. I assume that the aircraft are also N-registered and the pilots, at least in this case, are American.

Re: NOTAM for CYYC starting June 4, 2012 must have reservati
KLGA and YYC are completely different intersecting runway airports. Firstly, the point where the runways intersect allows aircraft to cross the intersection quicker on one end, and on the other end the operation is slower. The second big factor is that YYC is a couple of thousand feet higher and so ...

Re: Radar Identified, Ident and say Passing Alt
Squawking ident is one of the ways that ATC radar identify an aircraft. PSR and SSR are accurate but they still have flaws. ATC needs to confirm that it is you, that you are on the correct discrete code and that the altitude readout on their screen is accurate. Not knowing the unit and their procedu...

Re: Air France A380 clips a Comair CRJ at JFK . . . video
With the large aircraft, it really does not matter if you are on the centre line of those taxiways..their width at JFK is 75 feet. The A380 has a 260ft wingspan. To me that means that the pilots have to be extra careful to ensure wingtip clearance. Personally, I just think that Air France really hat...

Re: Pilot lands on Beach nr JFK cause motion sickness passen
I don't know. Aren't the flight schools the retarded ones who teach you to do a precautionary if you have a sick passenger. In the south part of Canada and the US, you can land at a real airport by the time you do a full precautionary. In the north part of Canada, you will get help anywhere ...

I am not sure how it is at uncontrolled airports, but at controlled airports you can have multiple landing aircraft on the runway as long as there is sufficient stopping distance between them

I agree with Braun. Not only will you most likely get banned from here, there are real world repercussions that you would have to deal with for disclosing that information.

Ottawa, and the Ottawa Airport are under the Montreal FIR and so in a different region than Toronto and is also has a bilingual requirement. If you wish to be considered for other regions, you would have to call and speak to the recruiting team to see if that can be done. In order to qualify for the...

Re: Why do US airports handle more traffic?
CYYC is at a much higher altitude so the aircraft also do not perform as well on the ground there. In the US there are a lot more visual approach rules that allow less spacing between aircraft.
Also - CYYZ does about 200,000 more movements than YYC

Oh she tried to open the door and some of you buy in that she could. Not a snowballs chance in hell that she would be able to do that. There was not enough manpower on the flight to overcome the massive forces of pressurization. This world is full of dumb people who refuse to stop and think things ...
