Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .

It's conditional as well on Performance numbers and other factors. This plane IS NOT in full production and its not certified yet. Bombardier has to ensure the numbers promised are represented in flight testing as well! Once you get an extra 1000feet added to a runway and then we find out it should ...

Re: Access to airline safety reports held up by court action

Funny, cause they haven't gotten rid of that "One Shit Employee" two or three years ago now whom got themselves into shit with the CBC over a stupid training practice out of KMDW. Had they of canned him in the first place the original rumblings about unsafe training practices at Porter would of kept...

I remember going for an interview there a while back. And the guy on the interview panel had asked me my opinion on what I thought about of the asthetics of there office building. I seriously sat there and was going to say, who gives a shit! But he felt I had a tough time answering that question whe...

Re: Porter posting a profit in 2011

Until audited numbers are released, Porter's claims of profitability are a little bit like listening to and believing the boy who cried wolf..... Well, this is the first time Bob Deluce has explicitly claimed profitablility at Porter. But hey, I didn't expect you to be happy to hear such news since...

Re: Porter or Air Canada

Well i think you should go to both. But I think if you got job offers from both companies. The Porter offer will come first before Air Canada. So if I were you, ask yourself what you want to do! One makes money and the other doesn't. One has been around longer than the other. You will probably go to...

Re: Porter almost grounded

As for Porter, apparently TC had some sort of problem with our SMS manual four years ago. The required changes have long since been made and approved by TC. An Porter's SMS system is still crap. The investigation process and implementation of a report is slow and a joke. They try to get the CP or O...

Re: Porter Terms and Conditions

thanks for the details. here is another question : ive read on this forum that skyregional is paying 31200$ with a flight pay of 14$/h average of 80h/month (is flight pay tax free like perdiems???). that would be 44640$ per year according to my calculator... and if porter is at 43000$ the first yea...

Give them a chance to start the YHZ base first, then see about YOW. I highly doubt a YOW base will happen now. They will focus on eastern expansion first.

Re: Porter IPO news

Porter only became profitable in the last 12 months, as their load factors crossed the magic 49% threshold of profitability on the Q400. Load factors in May 2011 were 59% - well into the profitable range. Wow, I had no idea that profitability is based on the aircraft load factor only. I guess it ha...

Re: Porter IPO news

Well they are going to need funds somehow to start-up the Halifax base. That is going to cost some sort of capital to get going. Money which they don't have unless someone (Investor) puts out more money, or if Deluce get's the "NO" he will go IPO. So ask yourself, when the IPO funds run out, then WH...

Re: No fare war between Porter and AC

I've done the same fare comparison on July 12 outbound (First flight of day) and return on the July 13 (First Flight of Day) and Porter is cheaper than Air Canada by almost $100.

Might not be a price war yet!

Re: Air Canada Starting CYTZ May 1

I have heard some funny things from the inside though.... we all know how Rob Deluce was able to buy the aiport terminal and evict the competition (questionable, but very smart and effective) but I've also heard that they made all the airport operations very difficult for AC to utilize because Port...

Re: Foreign check airmen at JAZZ????

Considering Bombardier is right in town. They have pilot's and checker's needed to do the job! I believe that's how Porter went about it! Jazz can do the same, considering that Bombardier is paying flight safety the money to train up to 5 crews for each new plane purchased anyway. No need to go over...

Re: New Hangars for Porter

I would guess Porter is going to expand into heavy maintenance. Deluce did that with Air Ontario in YXU. Porter currently contracts heavy Mtc to a company in Sault Ste Marie, with paint being done in Muskoka. With the size of the fleet growing, they are going to need a cheaper way to do heavy stuff ...

I think the film makers can easily play a burnt lightbulb and hype of the Bullshit so much that "Non-Aviators" will be on the edge of there seats in not changing the channel.

Re: New Hangars for Porter

Can't fit a Q400 in the old Ornge hangar. VAL barely fit there Dash 7 in there years ago when they had the Dash 7 medevac contract. Then, VAL had to use a ramp to lift the nose wheel and lower the tail at the same time to get it in there. The doors aren't wide enough for the wingspan of the Q400 any...
