Re: 737-500 crashes in Kazan, Russia
What seems interesting to me too is that the Co-Pilot had exactly 150 hours before moving onto the 737. I don't know the russian aviation regulations at all but I would imagine that those are the bare minimums to get your CPL. So at some point they must have had 737s flying around with a captain wi...

Re: Windsor Flying Club 172 down in Nashville.
The Windsor Flying Club ( a great flying club) were unfortunately aware of that record, and with the best of intentions, after a careful review, allowed him to fly. So... what? Do they break any law or regulations this way? I don't think so. As soon as the club member is legal and current, they are...

With rotors, just instinctively duck when near them even if they are clear of you when you stand straight up.

What OTHER conditions can possibly result in a mid air collision? Do TSB investigators/writers get paid by the word or something?

Re: Kamloops Student Pilot and Plane missing August 7, 2013
but the consensus around these parts appears to be that if you haven't "got it" (or gotten close) by the mandated 45 hours, something is missing. This poor soul had more than doubled the minimum and was still working towards his PPL. It's not an issue at all. First, it's not obvious, that every tee...

Re: Cessna - Glider Midair Collision near Pemberton
If flying with a passenger or passengers, I always ask them in pre-flight briefing to actively participate in the lookout duties, and to advise me immediately if they see an aircraft within close range, not to assume I have, and they always do. +1 I used to do the same. And few times my passengers ...

Indeed, everybody should know to go right. But who knows whether the other guy is going to pull or push for vertical! But sometimes "the other guy" acts too unpredictably :? Re: Rare and unusual accident causes
Later analysis indicated that the life raft stowed behind the co-pilot inflated, pushing him into the control yoke. Recently I heard the story about the fire extinguisher accidentally discharged by the passenger during the climb! He just adjusted his seat to make himself comfortable and ended up in...

Re: Here's why we MUST speculate about accidents
It's very difficult for the general public to make an informed decision about their pilot because "good pilots" That's what frustrates me the most. Passengers trust us too much :( They almost never see the difference between a good weather and unflyable one, and it makes them hostages of our poor d...

That's so sad! And actually, I can't believe somebody could take off in this kind of weather for the recreational flight (or I don't want to?). It simply gets in conflict with a common sense! :? But... “There’s no question. It’s not pilot error. It’s got to be mechanical,” said Linto, who stre...

Shock is a very powerful thing, and I think most people here myself included can't begin to imagine what they would be thinking or doing in a severe case of shock. Well, I understand that and actually believe in this version, cause it's the only reasonable explanation. However, it's just way too un...

I have encountered flocks of geese this month; not all fly to the US, as for many of them even southern Canada is south of their summer homes, and they stick around throughout the winter. OK, no problem! But that's even worse. Because if that was a bird, this version works not toward, but against t...

there were theories that this was a staged event Honestly, I think exactly the same. And that is the reason why I opened this topic – if the wreckage has been found, it's a real accident. If not, then it looks like escaping to US. Too bad, I don't know who is the pilot and whether he had any seriou...

Sorry to confuse you FlyGy, but I was referring to the loss of human life.. BIG PLUS 1!! The lack of empathy on this forum at times is quite shocking. Three KIDS lost their lives based on a stupid decision. There is not a single member of this forum that didnt make a stupid decision(s) at that age....
