Would you rather Onex buy us? Would you rather Onex grab our slots and start injecting real money into the fight? Would that be a better outcome for your career progression?
Yes, I hope that happens.

How about you? Where would you rather go?

Re: DOH merge.

As soon as the deal is done, it's time for all AC and TS pilots to start thinking of themselves as AC pilots. Period. Right on. Whatever happens when the paint is dry that's where we need to be But I'm not so certain there will be across the board gains. I know Transat pilots are going to see gains...

Re: DOH merge.

If everyone comes to the table reasonably, we can get past it. I know AC MEC wants to see a smooth and fair integration if the deal goes through, but if AT MEC comes with demands for mainline WB for all they won't accept it and we'll all be in the hands of am arbitrator. We all need to reduce our e...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

Question. I just took a look at Rouge’s 767 fleet. A couple are 16 and 19 years old, the rest are between 23 and 29 years old. So the babies in the fleet likely have upwards of 80,000 hours, the others 120,000 hours plus. They cannot be sustained for more than a few more years. Air Transat’s 310s a...

Re: DOH merge.

It isn't going to be a full ratio integration top to bottom, or DOH. The arbitrator will be loathe to award any big gains to one group solely at the expense of the other group. You will possibly see the merge point start further down the list ie. below junior WB CA or senior LCC 767 CA or something....

Trump, the Republicans and Boeing are all liars... The MAX needs to be re-certified and pilots need to get the proper training both in class and in the sim before this thing is allowed to fly again, period! Re: DOH merge.

I am at Rouge and have been for about 4 years. I work less days per year than my ML counter parts and earn more money than them (compared with ML friends). I have the ability to get most days off that I want, and can "generally" choose the kind of flying I want. If your priority is time off at home...

Re: DOH merge.

Would that hypothetical 6 year AT 330 captain getting 6 years AC seniority and bidding whatever that would afford them not be fair? People like this are going to be the major losers in the deal. Some people are going to go from WB Captain to NB FO. I doubt it. I think there will be some kind of sta...

Re: Time for Transat pilot future poll

It can't all go to Rouge. No WB growth room at Rouge so the 330s have to go Mainline and won't be counted as WB growth aircraft for the LCC growth ratio. The 320/321s could go to Rouge within any growth ratio room available. I'm not sure where we're at on that, you'd have to check with Scope committ...

Re: DOH merge.

BOTL I don’t think so my friends, I tink it should be more along the line of where I sit on my current seniority list now, no? Why should I go DOH when it’s only 8 yrs ago I was hired, when I sit at 48% seniority on my list? I won’t be 48% at AC if I go DOH. That not good for me. I should merge at ...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

Not sure what the problem would be with DOH. They are bringing their own planes with them are they not? How would DOH affect any AC pilot badly? I honestly don't see the problem... Many of the planes will never turn a wheel after the merger. 310s, 737s, possibly the 330-200s... gone. Senior Transat...

It would have to be a pretty big counter offer - 50M if AT backs out and 40M if AC backs out.
I heard 15 million and 40 million.

This won't bring much growth IMO. In the end it will settle to about a status quo or perhaps slightly more in terms of amount of aircraft/pilots required.

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

It's called eating your lunch bud. That's exactly what WJ is going to do to AC on it's international routes. The 787 product is identical if not better than AC and WJ costs structure is lower. Very much an "old school" Westjetter type scare comment. Would maybe apply, say 3 years ago, but now the t...

It's a non-issue. From both sides of it. I've gone out with senior Captains overseas that don't drink, but like to buy rounds for the crew after a long flight. I've gone out as a Captain with F/Os that don't care for a beer, all the cheaper for me, we can still grab dinner or go check stuff out on a...

AC pilots do not get the ability to bump into Jazz or Sky Regional if there are layoffs - so that’s a flawed argument. If you’re in favour of a one list, Why would that one list not apply for everyone on the list in regards to layoffs? Why would a 1 year OTS WJ hire have the ability to bump a 4 yea...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

Air Canada will not be sitting on its hands. WestJet has more than its work cut out for itself if it wants to secure anywhere near a 10B market cap. That market share has to come from somewhere, and AC won't be giving up any willingly. Don't ever underestimate CR....he's a shark, and likely smarter...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

Onex bought the company to make a 2x profit over the medium term. The only way to do that is to grow. I see a pretty big 787 order coming down within the next year. I agree on the medium term cash out plan for Onex, but I don't think a pile of widebodies and new routes into already served markets i...
