Re: The Ol' PFO

Here’s an idea for AC. Forget about even bothering with interviewing JAZZ guys/gals. If they were good enough to get hired by JAZZ and fly AC passengers around for at least 2+ years then why the hell should they even need to be interviewed again by the mother ship. Jazz has the same medical, Psyc e...

Re: Joining downwind at CYCD

NAV Canada can change their phraseology, but it doesn't change CARs. Besides, FSS don't know what the operational needs of a flight are, what the preferences are ie. straight in on an instrument approach with a light tailwind vs. circling, or a convenient exit vs. long taxi or need to backtrack... H...

Re: One List

I can't believe you guys are revisiting this - and so soon! Didn't you vote No already this year? Seems that should have been it. Decided. The forces that want to be the only mainline airline giving away seniority to people at another airline must be strong! Astonishing. Certainly benefits the compa...

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

Who are you talking about here, while everyone likes to slam Trudeau for this, it equally describes Trump. The way I see it, everyone did their level best to work with Trump from the start, getting to the point of awkward fawning and ass-kissrery, and it just turns out that western powers didn’t do...

As long as the mindless consumer gets their cheap TV's......we re elected a man who openly admires China and mocks our lifelong best friends. I don't get canadian voters..... That's what I mean, Canadians have "lost the ball"... and crashed short of the deck... We aren't tracking what's really impo...

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

If so do you think the people will just give it all up? Their new success? China is hyper nationalist, they think they're the best because that's what the CCP feeds them - they are told that the world is theirs by divine right Largest standing army in the world, a military that has grown significant...

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

I never said we didn't do anything since WW2. When I say we lost the ball, I mean Canadian society. One good idea you have there is service. Every Canadian after school, military or aid or other. Talk about bringing us together as one nation, Quebecers on course with Albertans, Newfies with West Coa...

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

China already has two world class ice breakers, and they're about to launch a nuclear ice breaker. What do you think that's for? Russia, China, even the US assert that we don't own our Arctic. And what do we have up there to say we do? Some Rangers with 40 year old bolt action rifles? An occasional ...

Are work conditions at Encore all that great?

It's just CARs is it not?

They were by far the lowest rung regional in the country when they launched if I recall correctly...

Swoop, Encore, same shit...

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

Of course you can selectively close your airspace.

Look at Qatar and the Saudis.

ICAO agreements are just a wish list... if there even are any.

Re: Closing Canadian Airspace to China

You would have to be willing to enforce it as well... Against civilian airliners? That's pretty easy. Really it should be led by the US though and backed by our Western Allies. I think the Chinese situation is ridiculous. We should have been shutting down a lot of things already, but airspace isn't...

Fix NB Captain pay too.

Everything should be higher, but 4 year flat, NB CA, and FO:CA ratio in that order should be the focus.

Re: Minimum rest in the 703 world

Lots of good ideas in above 2 posts. Make them tell you if you're released or still on call. If the operator isn't prepared to tell you when you're rest period is, then you tell them when you're taking it. It's your responsibility as much as it is the operator's to ensure you meet CARs crew rest, if...

Re: Typical New Hire RP Schedule.

IMO your best option as a new hire is the Rouge 767. It's probably the best schedule and funnest layovers at the company. Socialized bidding and no reserve is big. Draft pay is 2.5x! Enjoy your amazing lifestyle for a few years while building seniority and then decide if you want to go NB Captain o...

Draft pay is a 50% premium.

Overtime pay is a separate 50% premium for flying above 85 hours.

Some people work extra flying at straight time for some reason...

Re: Air Canada Pay

Excuses for the arbitrator? The last arbitrator had all the excuse he needed since the Protecting Air Services Act said they had to select the Final Offer that was best for Air Canada corporate. That literally was the law. Their was no middle ground, no interest based arbitration, it was all or noth...

Re: Air Canada Pay

Pretty difficult to fix it all in one go... A contract takes decades to build and develop, the 10 years leading up to 2012 saw ours set back significantly. But in the last 5 years... We got years of service on upgrades back on LOU74. We got a real pension back for our new hires. We got a 900 hour ne...
