Cathay Troubles

CEO sacked. State pressure cranked up on the airline. Reportedly pilots are being fired for being seen on the wrong side of the issue. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.hongkongfp.com/2019/08/16/cathay-pacific-ceo-rupert-hogg-resigns-amid-hong-kong-protest-row-augustus...

If AF/KLM Quebecor Onex and whoever else is in this group come in with more money, I don't think it matters what Letko supports. People will go with money.

Re: When Should a New Pilot Begin Applying ?

Start researching operators and get your resunes and cover letters all ready and fire off resumes the day you get signed off on your CPL.

CPs look at resumes to hire someone and if you don't have a license they can't hire you and put it in the bin.

What's not correct? Arrests mean shit. Cavalier? Past arrests mean nothing if there wasn't a charge and conviction. If you're currently charged and awaiting trial, sure that's different... but people are arrested all the time as a routine part of police investigations, or sometimes without cause, an...

Because they would pit groups against each other to get work.

ACPA owns all Air Canada and Air Canada subsidiary flying within the provision of their scope agreement.

Re: DOH merge.

We will need to put the seniority fight and any hard feelings to rest quickly, kick B-scale to the curb, not let them divide us, and get a fucking raise

Rovinescu is making millions and he just cashed out 50 million with 100+ million in options still vested. Time to get our slice.

Re: DOH merge.

I heard it from someone in the building on Logistics. Unofficial. But I have no reason to not believe it. If they aren't postponed, maybe they're just not calling anyone else, or maybe it's bullshit. But with super bid next week and the acquisition vote imminent... maybe they figure they need to ta...

Re: DOH merge.

Probably went cold because the merger or acquisition language in the ACPA contract is very favorable to AC pilots. ALPA would be DOH no questions asked. That's actually completely false and one of the perpetual lies ACPA keeps spewing to the membership. That's correct. Read the ALPA merger guidance...

Re: DOH merge.

Zing. This would be my first Union merger. As I said bump and flush and I'll consider it. I'd want it laid out clearly immediate flush and new vote... no interim period. I'm not voting for anything that results in a recently AT guy just became AC guy to lead a new Air Canada pilot group. At least no...

If s conviction is overturned on appeal... it's like it never happened. Same with a pardon. Just say no, you aren't lying.

Re: DOH merge.

Re ALPA, - I am generally pro-ALPA. I wouldn't have a problem if we transitioned ACPA to ALPA, but not like this. ALPA wants us and we can make gains in the deal by negotiating a Union merger. We already secured Group A carrier status with our own EVP at the head table. We also secured seperate elec...

AC ups it to $18.

Secures Letko support for acquisition.

AC new hire courses postponed.

Re: Becoming a pilot with a DUI

The question is: "Have you ever been convicted of an offence for which has pardon has not been granted?"

And your answer is no.

And for that matter, if it's asked any other way the answer is still no.

And arrests mean nothing.

Re: Becoming a pilot with a DUI

It's mostly not a problem until it is... some guy saving the homeland, bad day, whatever... You would be wise with any conviction to have a US waiver as your job likely requires "unrestricted travel to the USA". The one day you're refused entry - even if it's wrong - and your flight cancels, now you...

Re: Becoming a pilot with a DUI

Tell him not to go to the US until he gets a pardon.

With a pardon it won't be a problem from a job perspective. But the US won't recognize the pardon once the record is on their system, which it will be if you cross the border, and it will make US travel a hassle for your whole career.

I appreciate your perspective, and more discussion. Rouge is not (allegedly) successful because of second rate wawcon for pilots. It is successful because of the higher seat density and lower frill costs drive the lower casm. I say allegedly, because we really don't know. It's not seperated out in f...

Re: DOH merge.

Do you think a NO vote will be good for AC and AC pilots? AC will just up the purchase price to $14-15/share. You may not get a profit share next year. You may not get as much salary increase in a an opener. Sure there's more at stake than just money, but so far your concerns are unfounded and unpr...
