Re: How much is the new pension worth?

Don't forget in your cost calculation that you may not be able to shelter $2900 every month in an RRSP (unless you are earning the maximum and have unused contribution space from the past). $2900 * 12 months is $34800. The maximum in 2019 is 18% of income up to $26500. Even if you had past room and ...

Re: Who will bid the A220?

I don't need to explain anything. As I said, half joking, thinking out loud, could go one way could go another... wouldn't surprise me either way. We are already delaying most of the 737s that were to come this year when the return to service happens. Only starting with the 24 we had, and a metered ...

Re: Leave of absence

LOAs are offered when there are too many pilots.
Currently, and for the next number of years, it's not enough pilots.
I don't see LOAs coming anytime soon.

Re: Who will bid the A220?

Yeah 737. Partly a joke, but partly serious, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. This problem is dragging on and not even close to a resolution yet. They don't want to pay guys to stay home forever, and the pressure is building to make a move. Had they just moved crews right away they'd all be flyin...

It all depends how much you make and put into it in your career.

It's paid for life. There is a survivor benefit.

Re: Who will bid the A220?

When the 737 gets reduced some of those guys will go and some of the 320 or LCC guys they bump will go. Do you mean 767 or are you expecting the MAX is on it's way out? Yeah 737. Partly a joke, but partly serious, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. This problem is dragging on and not even close to ...

Re: CBC News story / no-fly ban

Right? People don't want to be responsible for their mistakes. The proper response would be along the lines of: "I can't believe I fell for this, I made a naive mistake and will work with Air Canada to ensure a proper result and that people are made aware of and don't fall for this grievous scam" In...

Re: CBC News story / no-fly ban

Once again the lady did not get ripped off. AC somehow seems to think they did, and tries to get the money back from the fraudster's customer, not from the fraudster. I would call buying tickets through a shady operation and then subsequently getting in trouble with the airline as being ripped off....

Wages are too low... I hear you... I know no one likes to hear it... did it, and it wasn't ideal but manageable - my point was only if you are going broke at what is basically equivalent to the median Canadian family income level you're not managing it right. You know I agree with a lot of your pos...

I think you misunderstand, it was a half joking comment and I'm certainly not advocating against Beer and BBQ budget. Rather I'm pointing out that when you're off every day you've got more time for Beer and BBQ, thus you may have been under budgeting your requirements... plus traveling, spring skiin...

I don't know... It's not big bucks, and it certainly isn't ideal... but if you're going bankrupt on $60K/year to stay at home, because you're not getting a few hundred bucks in per diems, maybe you need to re-evaluate and reign in your spending... or maybe with all the free time the Beer and BBQ bud...

The real estate company will liquidate the airline after securing the properties. Good luck Fellow Aviators. With QC gov. as a stake holder and in for $125 million in the proposed deal? Shutter the airline the Premier started and the jobs that do with it? That not happening and will be a condition ...

You bought stolen goods. Unknowingly or not, it's against the law. The fact that you got away with it a few times before you were caught does not absolve you of your negligence or you're responsibility. I had a corporate security on a flight a while back and we spoke about CC fraud, it is rampant a...

Anyone know how many MAX guys took the offer and went back to their old plane.....vs having the summer off with pay? Only a handful were eligible, but I heard it was about 30 guys.
