"How come you're not spending time with family and friends instead of gloating on the internet." Maybe it's because he's switched trips with other pilots so they can spend time with THEIR families? From the sounds of it, a foreign concept to you...? ...so Johnny Jr is at work then, posting his nons...

Re: Category 1 AME renewal - color blind

I too fail the coloured dots test. I failed the lantern test twice. I was given a practical test a mile from the tower (during the day) where the controller used the light gun and I somehow was able to identify the colours. I was issued a Category 1P (P for practical) which has been good since. Tran...

I’d prefer to have a professional like jazzyboy up front than an egotistical whiny scab like JS/new commercial pilot/rotten apple any day.

Have the striking workers actually done anything that is "Illegal"? Annoying, yes. Not all that strategic - you bet. But illegal - I've not seen anything to suggest that any of their actions have been illegal. So if stood on the road and blocked traffic on any street in Toronto I wouldn't get arres...

Say what you want about flying for Kasper. He gives you a place to stay and that's worth about 5k a year in savings. Do the math kids. Go fly for Kasper for 3 seasons. Get all the pic you need for your atpl. Apply to perimeter/bearskin with 1k hours, and work on a metro for a year and you will be a...

There's not a lot of aviators that can say that, especially in this country.

Re: Bearskin going head to head with Porter in North Bay mar

How does a company (Bearskin) reduce the price that they charge the customer for their service by 60% and remain in the black? Easy. They operate an aircraft that has paid for itself 15 years or more ago, devalued to zero by finance, has a very, very low operating costs, with crews that are cost le...

T-1040 was a gear up in the early 90's.
Navajo was a fatal CFIT in the mid 80's.

Re: Gear up landing possible prevention

I'm no psychologist, but before this guy is condemned, I would imagine it could possibly be an automatic "OH FUKK!" reaction to jam the powers forward. In a brief moment you may know if the airplane is going to fly or if it's going to shake itself apart. It could work, as in this case and another PC...

Re: Bearskin Metro 3 CYRL accident - Speculation thread

You guys are all acting like it was a 'kaboom, hard yaw left, all the bells and whistles telling them they had an engine failure'. It wasn't. Did anyone actually read the report, or jump to the end. With a low power setting, and gusty winds, at 500' the airplane is getting bumped around, and anyone...

Re: Westjet engine problem YYZ July 24,2014

Maybe I'll look in the "Well Rounded Canadian Pilot" section of the SOPs for engine failures.
Or maybe the "Giver" section.
But certainly not in the, oh I don't know, EMERGENCY PROCEDURES section.
Thank goodness for heros.
