Side? I'm guessing they're trying to be as accurate and neutral as possible, and I haven't seen any suggestion otherwise.

Re: How the PM stole freedom

Don't forget that the problem isn't just subtracting the extra cost at the pump from the carbon rebate to see if you're net positive or negative. Heating bills like Inverted mentioned, but also the added cost of everything else in our lives that touch any level of transportation. Food probably bein...

Re: How the PM stole freedom

Well Captain..... please enlighten me. I have got about 200 dollars back so far from the carbon tax rebate yet every time I get a natural gas heating bill, for example last month was $130. $40 of that was carbon tax alone. Times that by several months you get the picture. Every time I fill up my ve...

No, on average people get back more than they pay. Maybe if you think about it youll figure out how that is possible.

Not a controller but I've been told they get TAS, so pilots have to be a bit extra careful about being more than 5% off on their planned TAS as well as with crossing restrictions during a STAR TAS and IAS are optional in ADS-B, and if you have a look on adbsexchange you'll see that none of the airl...

Re: Instrument - Lost Comms - What will you do?

I will squawk 7600 and then since I have the ACC in my cell phone contacts. If I lose comms I will phone them and sort this out. If you've just taken off and are being vectored, I don't know if trying to find the phone number of ATC and then calling them is necessarily the best option.Would a bette...

Re: nav can awws site closure

I was just looking for a better solution and came across wxbrief.ca and notam.ca (which I see were also mentioned previously in this thread). Both work great, and show the info from CFPS and they work really well on mobile. Also, for weather, avalanche.ca is good at showing an overview of weather up...

Re: nav can awws site closure

I never used CFPS and now that AWWS is gone I use the aero weather app and DINS for notams. FltPlan Go can be used for METARs, TAFs and airport NOTAMs, and Foreflight additionally has FIR NOTAMS if you want to pay (which I don't any more). I tried DINS for FIR NOTAMS, but it doesn't seem to be all ...

Re: nav can awws site closure

Looking at it further, it looks like on phones there is a slight advantage in that you don't have the left-hand pseudo-frame with the airports and tickboxes that you see on the ipad (and desktop), which takes up a lot of the space on the ipad. It just displays that above the results, so you don't lo...

Re: nav can awws site closure

Ohh ya, just tried it on my iPad for the first time. That is pretty bad. Funny enough it works way better on my Google Pixel. Terrible on google pixel 8 phone. Tiny, can't scroll by dragging the gfa images. Would be so easy to create a more usable user interface. Looks like they really over-enginee...

Just tried it on a phone and as predicted it is even more unusable than ipad. Still i,possible to scroll when viewing gfas but due to smaller screen much more difficult to find a non img to drag. Such basic incompetence, even for navcan. Im actually astounded that they havent bothered spending the 5...

Re: nav can awws site closure

Ok, unpopular opinion, I know I know. But it seems like they've made the interface on mobile a lot better now and more user friendly. I do agree the simplicity of the Metar/taf on the old site was a huuuge plus, and I wish we still had that. But the interface now in my opinion isn't half bad and it...

Re: nav can awws site closure

No, your assumptions are all incorrect there, and actual professional programmers use published APIs rather than relying on guesswork and hacking, which is likely to break in the future. I take it there is no published API then. Then use aviationweather.gov. I guess you're against using roster apps...

If you host on OVH (including their cloud servers), you get DDoS protection included for free. I've used it for many years, and it works great. You also don't have to pay for outgoing or incoming bandwidth.
