Re: Motorcycle-licensed pilots

Conspiciously missing from this thread is a certain pilot (and avcanadian) who entered the brotherhood of two wheels after 50 years on this planet, proving that you're never to old to start. :D I've been busy getting ready to head south; not to mention I don't have any good pictures of my bike anyw...

Re: Any polite class1 CFI at Spring Bank area?

I don't like being yelled at either. Was never was "yelled at" by any of my instructors (don't know yet if that's the case here ... just that it's a "bad attitude" opinion), but on occasion must say have seen a peeved instructor coming into the lounge really stressed (super pissed off) about some l...

Re: Any polite class1 CFI at Spring Bank area?

I am currently with Fly right and i hate it there, because of the bad attitute of a CFI there. I am looking for Class 1 or 2 good CFI who can help me complete my PPL in peace. I have two choices Calgary flying Club or Spring Bank Collage but this is what find out so far about both flying clubs. Cal...

Re: New "Stealthy" Super Hornet

We need a fighter that'll last about 30-40 years, the RCAF thinks the F-35 is it and is planning accordingly. Really? Then perhaps you'd like to explain while General Tom Lawson; you've heard of him, the CDS, who I knew when he was a Major and fighter pilot by the way, started backing off from the ...

Re: 337 Gear Up is Saskatchewan

I have to side with Doc and the others on this one. A checklist should be used to confirm you haven't missed anything that you've already done from memory; it's not a crutch to be used to do all your thinking for you. For our two crew aircraft, the checklist is just a rehash of the memory item check...

I'm with the Colonel on this one. I'm long gone from flight training but I never had a qualm about signing off a student once the requirements were met. Hell, I've signed off more than one student after telling them; "you've met all the requirements except the 45 hours, take that airplane up and don...

Re: Lac Mégantic: will or should there be a Public Inquiry?

I've never been particularly convinced that public inquiries do anything other than to put money in the pockets of lawyers and to make it look like the government is doing something. Absolutely it should be investigated by the TSB and if negligence is found, then pursue it through the criminal court...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

There is a time and place for dissention and disagreement. There is also a point when such dissention and disagreement within an organization is disruptive and destructive. When that point is reached, those responsible for the organization must act to protect it or stand by and take responsibility ...

I don't know if I'd go that far. I get a bill for $55 every six months from TC, for the same period with my FAA license I receive no bill whatsoever.

I looked on Google maps and the airplane probably landed in crop land. To stop soil erosion in the wind, most farmers leave last years stubble in place and simply seed in the stubble so my guess is 6 or so inches of new crop rising up between one foot of old stubble. I personally would not even att...
