Re: Did you get into this industry with or w/o the wife/gf?
I married my high school sweetheart (met in 2003 and married June 2010). We have just done our first relocation for aviation. While I was doing my undergrad in geology, I told her my plan was to becaome a bush pilot and that if I was going to be a Captain on anything, I needed to move to where the w...

Re: Harbour Air & West Coast Air
Speaking of retiring the 100s, I would love to see HA grow on the West Coast enough to be able to afford replacing 100s, with 400s.

Re: Must be getting near the end of the season
Its funny, I've been a dockhand for the entire summer and have heard all those questions atleast once. But it's still wildly entertaining for me. Im now just starting to think, "o, I've heard this one before". Our CP does it best though, Pax: "what's the inflight movie? CP: "Porn, and before you ask...

Depends which companies, I'm sure I know of a rather large bush operator who gives their employees an honest day's pay for a honest day's work.

Where or what is the best site to view these planes that are on the market.
Im interested in working towards buying a C-185 or C-206 and putting it on floats/skis/wheels.

Re: Fire in th cockpit
It takes alot of convincing of the airline management to spend $ so they appeal and appeal until there is like 5 examples to go off and then finally airlines go "hmmmm....maybe they are right", so lets spend a few million and switch them all out. Excellent point yycflyguy, I love a good success stor...

Roger, thank you.
I dont know flypie, we'll see.
4 of us from our program are making tracks up there, maybe a crew house and flying jobs togther, sounds like a great seed for many stories to grow. Ill update you on avcanada, seems to be where you spend the majority of your flying.

Alright guys....definitely getting off track here. If you want to get advanced skills and techniques and not take chances with your first stage - take the course. If you want to make contacts and get a job in the area - take the course. If you have to borrow money because you feel its beneficial - g...

I really don't trust you. Congratulations for playing by the rules. :prayer: Also, you are probably missing the point, you seem to be a professional debator rather than a professional. Advanced training was the primary goal here, and contacts and jobs were second. I, being the young the pilot (im gu...

I'd rather work for a promising company than work for a fly-in fishing lodge, that is seasonal and cheap.

Re: There are no new accidents.
After reading further into the article. The pilot took off just a few minutes earlier from an airport just a few miles away. No one was hurt except for one person who was airlifted for x-rays. The plane did sink to the bottom of the lake a few mins later. The plane is going to stay there until Agro ...

I have a pretty good bilingual tongue, and the quote earlier says
The planes front wheels caught the sea as the plane was landing. Tthe owner of the plane was flying and the not usual pilot as the plane crashed early into the long weekend.

Re: 50 hour course
As I mentioned before, I told you guys I would report my experience with the 50 hour Bush Course on AVCANADA. Worth it - 100%. You could spend 15K on a brand new truck and after 5 years you would have nothing. My instructor/mentor was an excellent pilot to fly with and learn from. I was able to meet...

I am one of those 280TT wonders (referd to previously) LOL...man do perspectives change. I have been looking for work for about a month now, flying jobs are scarce unless you have 500TT, so dock jobs and dispatch are out there but not advertising. I think they have piltos showing up at the operators...

Mount Royal is busy. I know this because I am a second year, who finised early. Anyways, they usually put through a few students through the instructor rating, but no one in my class showed interest in doing the rating through MRU. The school is looking for Class 4's, 3 or 2. They are starting the P...

Re: Full-Time Pilot Career
Obviously you need the equipment to do the Group 1 within your CPL.
Most colleges are structured to pass your CPL flight test and written test at the 150 hour mark, and the last 50 hours is your ME and MIFR ratings. Without the summer break it works out to 16 months of training.

Re: Calgary Flight Training Center
Wasn't saying to go to the Club over the Calgary Flight Centre. Was recommending the club over Morgan. Been involved in flight training for 4 years in Calgary, the general vibe in Calgary is that Calgary Flight is the least favorable for flight training. Might get lucky though, if you're willing to ...
