What exactly do you mean by that, champ? You think the CARs are "alternative facts"?

Re: Georgian Upgrades

Good luck being an RJ capt without an atpl. Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid? You know they also operate 1900s, right? And the 1900 is now technically a single-pilot aircraft, so legally the only requirement to be PIC is this: "No person shall act as the pilot-in-command of an aircraft wit...

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

I took a look at the Parks Canada webcam on Fidelity Mountain this morning just to see the area, and there was some interesting weather in the pass: https://i.imgur.com/WIx0Q2c.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iL27wqA.jpg That first image is looking towards Wheeler Hut, which is up the valley to the right at...

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

The Illicillewaet Glacier (I assume is in or near the Illicillewaet Valley because it doesn't show up on Google Maps) is very close to the area I have marked on the map. Do you know what the other valley is? Or could you show me on a map? The Illicillewaet River runs down from the Illicillewaet Gla...

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

Looking at the location of Wheeler Hut, which is also where I initially thought he might have made a wrong turn, something else came to mind: maybe he intentionally headed up the Illicillewaet Valley, thinking it was the Beaver Valley. Perhaps he didn't think the conditions ahead through Rogers Pass...

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

Does anyone have the ability to post the GFA from that day? I think it's this one: http://gfaarchive.info/gfaDisplay.php?region=gfacn31&gfaType=cldwx&gfaDateTime=20171126T0000&gfaOffset=000 I think PDW and CNPC might have been looking at the wrong day. The plane departed Sat afternoon, but you both...

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

From the Castanet article: "'We have not searched east of Rogers Pass as there was no ping information with the Rogers Pass cellphone tower from the phone on board the plane. It did communicate with the Fidelity Mountain cell tower near the west boundary of Glacier Park,' she read from an update pro...

Pasco has some good WAWCON, Not sure what the dislike on this agreement is. You want to make six figures and be home almost every night you can. If anything it encourages Encore to raise their pay.

Re: Why is the ramp still a thing that happens?

Depending on what part of the industry you're working in, a year or two on the ramp is part of the required curriculum. You can look at it as "paying your dues", and there is an element of truth in that but more importantly without that experience you're going to be a danger to everyone out there w...

Re: C-Series now controlled by Airbus

That's going to come as a surprise to CFM - their LEAP XiC engine was announced as the powerplant for the C919 in December 2009: https://www.geaviation.com/press-release/jv-archive/advanced-leap-x1c-engine-chosen-sole-powerplant-launch-new-comac-c919 . And was the engine on the C919's successful ma...

Re: C-Series now controlled by Airbus

The C919's engines are nowhere near as technologically advanced as those on Boeing and Airbus products; it's simply not efficient enough to compete in markets in the developed world. Its target market is developing countries where airlines don't have the capital to purchase new 737s and A320s.

Meatservo, your references to the dogs driving is irrelevant, and you know it; they were on a controlled track, not public streets, and they didn't drive 3.5 million miles. I can count on two hands, at most, the number of accidents I know of where human ingenuity has saved lives and automation would...

Tell me why my computer constantly gets updates and patches for errors. Once again, the confidence in tech does have some merit, but it is far from the perfection that many believe. Humans don't get updates and patches for errors. Humans make mistakes constantly. Computers are far more accurate, re...

I'm not sure how many kilometres I've driven. But yeah, I've never been in any accident that was caused by another driver, either. Obviously I'm a defensive-driving superhero. And, because I'm a person and not a psycho, I'll hit the sandbags to prevent hitting a bus instead of vice-versa. But whate...

I don't know about that. I have never had an accident, either. If everyone else paid the same amount of attention to their driving as the "Google car" handlers pay to their project and its extremely controlled test environment, there would be better stats all around. This is just "Lying with statis...

Engine failure and VMC roll on final? With the size of the fire, I don't think fuel quantity was an issue.

How is this any different than chartering a Flightexec aircraft directly, except that Sunwing takes a cut as middleman? I can't see why either the customer or the operator would be enticed by this deal.

It isn't only the changes. It's the attitude that lazy government workers are "real hard working Canadians" and small business owners are "tax cheats". I've had it with that. Has anyone in the government actually called you a "tax cheat"? Because I've only heard that from right-wing blowhards who w...

Re: Should I stay or should I go?

Do you not understand how marginal tax rates work? You're not paying 53% of your income in taxes; if you make over $202800, then anything you make over $202800 will be taxed at that rate. Everything you earn below that will be taxed at the lower amounts. If you made exactly $202800 your average rate...

Bureaucracy and red tape has got in the way of a lot of common sense in the north and has regulated a lot of...
