Re: Garrett 900hp Conversion - C208 Amphib

I hear the speed and performance are top notch, but nobody talks about the off dock work such as dropping off hunters and fisherman on the side of a rock. I have never flown a Garrett on a float equipped 208 so I can't comment. My old buddy from my float days has a few complaints so I was wondering ...

Bond 2 years. F/O $25k Absolutely criminal. The starting salary is 45900 annual plus per diems as Captain on the 200 ( 40 dollars a day for days away from the Winnipeg base ) . I'm assuming the 45K a year posted is gross pay not take home. I guess it is good for those living in mom's basement, eati...

Re: Thoughts on this PBS Documentary - Regional Pilot Life

It would be interesting to hear how many Canadian pilots not at Westjet or Air Canada deal with the same problems (then again some of the first or second year people at Westjet and Air Canada are likely also struggling financially). Yes, it would be interesting to know how many are out there. I bet...

I think they complement each other. but the baron kit by itself didn't seem to make much of a difference other than stability in the flare and at low speeds. Was told with just the baron kit and the up gross that we should be running at 29/19 Absolutely, I feel the same way. I ran the old girl at 2...

125 indicated. You had a good one. All the ones I flew were in the 100 range. I think one of the best beaver mods out there is the wing angle. Totally improves the old girl. Every beav should have one. DHC

Re: 5600 LB Gross Weight Increase for DHC-2

As has been mentioned above, struts, rivets, etc. Unfortunately however, nothing that makes the aircraft fly any better at that weight. Yes, how true that is. We have to remember, it doesn't matter how many mods are added to this fine beast, it's still the same stove bolted on the front.( piston ve...

Re: 5600 LB Gross Weight Increase for DHC-2

I know Stalarius in Kelowna who took over from AOG are still doing mods. Check them out online, they might have your answers. Wing struts or the bolts are changed and some added plates overlapping the strut connections. This is just off the top of my head, someone else might have the correct info. DHC

Pretty good upgrade Sarah. Hope it keeps going up for you. I made 10 0000 a month on the 'Van a couple seasons ago. Now I'm a 704 F/O & make much less Once you get into the 704 world it is a little slow with the pay. It's like any job change, it is expected. Depending on your time, once you get you...

I think the deeper we dig here, there will be more to the story. I know wages are up and down( mostly down) in this industry, BUT! this seems a little odd. Sorry I'm just skeptical. DHC

Re: Salary for Experienced Bush Pilots on the Rise

Hate to be a party pooper, but when is this happening? I left the bush scene for the regionals because of the low pay and long hours. I will never go back, but I sure hope this happens for the rest of you float flyers. DHC
