Re: DJI Mini 3 Pro
Hi BillyEd43, I apologize and did not intend to mislead you. I do not own the Mini 3 Pro; have only seen one in action being demonstrated by a vendor. It performed very well though it was always within the perimeter of a football field so I am unable to verify the range issues. The videos I reviewed...

Re: DJI Mini 3 Pro
Hello Captain Hall (I am assuming this is the same Ray), Good to see you participating in the drone portion of this forum. It is a great retirement occupation and it is fascinating watching it evolve. The regulators still seem in a bit of a quandary about how to tax/charge/regulate/eliminate drones,...

Re: I hate ultralights
It is now the summer of 2022 and it would be interesting if the members' attitudes toward ultralight or the regulations have changed significantly. I am a proponent of aviation in all forms and actively discourage OVER regulation (including those for drones). And GOOD airline aviators not only encou...

Re: Seniority System ...
The obvious solution. Pilots protest by voluntarily retiring at age 60. Anyone not doing so can be publicly ridiculed on this forum (as access to the ACPA forum will no longer be available for those already retired.)

Pilots sure know how to give at the office... From page 2 of AC's news release today '' Included in operating expenses in the third quater of 2012 was an expense reduction of $124 million related to changes made to the terms of the new collective agreement with pilots pertaning to retirement age......

Re: 900 New jobs at Air Canada LCC
If LCC is separate and AC goes back into CCAA, could they not just shovel all the work over to LCC? Almost exactly right. It was a bit of a surprise to see LCC fall under Air Canada ownership, but in the short term, it makes a lot of sense. A quick review of Air Canada development for the past 15 y...

Re: New Contract thread
The AC Pilots forum which bans retirees and anyone with a dissenting opinion is simply a cesspool of misinformation. So lets bare it all here on this public forum. .........[part deleted by author of this message] All of this could have been avoided had it not been for a severe lack of ethics. I ca...

Re: New Contract thread
Hi ratherbee: No need to justify my no vote. If faced with the same circumstances, I would make the same vote. Hopefully I made it clear that it was the ethical thing to do. Though I no longer have access to the AC pilots forum, you may have already seen the list of items that were left "open" to be...

Re: Decision time....
At the end of the day, take the job that provides you with the best lifestyle and quality of life. Do what's best for you with the options you have and you will be happy. Not sure the Wardair, Nationair, or CanJet pilots would agree with you. Being a professional pilot has always required some comp...

Re: AC Pilots Pension Funding Relief
Flatface... My intention is not to turn this into a workers vs retirees thing, merely pointing out some financial issues. While it is not a ponzi scheme, if the company gets its desired funding relief, and if the plan continues to whither, and if it gets restructured down the road, then it will hav...

Re: AC Pilots Pension Funding Relief
This is NOT "Pension Funding Relief". This is "Corporate Obligation Relief". If this provision made any sense, the Government would first have curtailed executive salaries until corporate obligations were satisfied. Ten more years of neglect or more room to maneuver the part of Air Canada that has e...

And I am one of those guys! Left AC early and now working the Gulf. Nice to be operating an aircraft with an airline that has extensive financial security and is willing to invest some of those funds into the operation. It is hard work compared to AC, but have a great place to live and fascinating f...

Re: New Contract thread
REF: TA1 Voting "NO" to TA1 was simply the right thing to do, ethically, and realistically. The contract had a major impact on the progressive careers of ALL pilots who had not yet reached the left seat. There were a substantial number of items that were not even close to complete. From experience, ...

Re: Why do Air Canada pilots have to be such tools?
The infighting and conceitedness between groups needs to end, I'm sick of the Haters. When will the olive branch be extended from ACAP TO ALPA? No olive branch necessary. The two organisation have determined they are better off as separate entities. In this case, it appears to be a better course of...

Re: Qatar requirements
Have only seen pilots arriving with an ATPL. Movement onto right seat operations is very quick and they want assurance that the candidate is prepared for a left seat position by having a valid ATPL issued by the Qatar Aviation Authority. Once here, there is little time to follow up on missing licens...

Broompusher. Thanks for taking the time to post the corrections. Have been taking copious notes as there has been a flurry of interest from my former workmates in Canada. Will be taking a keener interest in the wind direction for more than just the active runway.

Re: Thinking about the Middle East? QATAR interview
Training finished and on the line. Line instructors would excellent and patient thought there is some inconsistency in procedures. There are some grey areas in the manuals and they are weighted heavily to an Airbus standard, even on the Boeing. Not serious issues, but does promote a bit of confusion...

Re: Thinking about the Middle East? QATAR interview
Our CEO made three interesting statements over the last week: 1/ The airline will double in size by 2020 and carry 2.5 times as many passengers as it does today. 2/ The only reason they have been able to keep up with pilot induction is due to the many carriers going bankrupt or laying off pilots. 3/...

It occurs to me that Raymond undertook this challenge long before personal attacks were directed at him. Not a valid statement that Raymond is proceeding for "revenge" in fact, it appears that making such a statement is being very vindictive. The number of people contesting the age 60 maximum has in...
