Re: 2 year ame course
Okay thanks for the reply iflyforpie I do appreciate it. So is it fair to say that the 2 years i take at centennial will be of little use in helping me land my first flying job? I was just thinking of bush flying jobs where the pilot is usually the mechanic as well and maybe 2 years will help me to ...

1.3VsoCAS question
Hi everyone, I am working toward my commerical flight test and just seem to have some trouble with the formula to figure out your approch speed. My question has to do with the 1.3VsoCAS (gross wt) section, is this refering to the speed in the front of my POH which is 43 for the 152 or do I go to per...

Re: Finally hit the 100 hr mark but.....
I say pick a beautiful day to go flying. Bring the old lady up and get her to comfort you orally as you fly. You won't be thinking anything bad at that point!!!! (And by orally, I mean she can talk to you. :P Perverts! ) Seriously, I have no advice. Good luck though. -istp :smt023 ^lol on...

Re: Commercial x-country Q's
Hi there I am also planning on getting my 300 NM done in the next few weeks (hopefully). Like others have suggested you should definitely go beyond 300 nautical miles because this may be your only chance EVER to have a plane all for yourself for a pretty long time. I personally was thinking about fl...

Brampton Flying Club or Canadian Flight Academy?
Hi everyone, I am in the middle of switching flight schools and was wondering which of the 2 I should go for. I live in Brampton right now so obviously BFC is closer to me and I will save on fuel. On the other hand I have flown out of Oshawa for a couple months now and I am familiar with the airport...

Was glued to the television when this happened and unfortunately they are saying the 2 souls on board were killed. CP24 said the aircraft which was from Burlington and had gone to Buttonville for some radio work. My condolences go out to the friends and family of the crash.

Re: What do I do after my Commerical Pilot License?
Okay thanks guys for the advice I do really appreciate it. I personally would like to get my float rating and then look for a job and if it does not work out go for the multi IFR at the end. I would be more then happy to do just single engine flying for a few years and yeah eventually get the multi ...

What do I do after my Commerical Pilot License?
Hi, I will have my CPL in about the next 2 weeks or so but I am not sure what to do after that. First of all I don't believe I can find a job with just my CPL and was thinking of getting my float rating but then what? Do I stay with the CPL and float rating until an X amount of hours and hope some e...

What books do you guys recommend?
Hi there everyone, I was just wondering what books you guys recommend to someone who just wants to learn more about aviation and how stuff works. Books that are similar to From The Ground Up which I already have and I also have the Advanced Flight Training Manual which honestly right now seems like ...

Re: sublimation and deposition
hmm....anti ice equipment is not required with flying in cirrus clouds because the higher up you get the less water vapor there is and the colder the temperature is and so since warm air holds more water vapor then cold air that would mean there is little to no water vapor in the cirrus clouds. Prec...

sublimation and deposition
good evening people, I just have 1 quick question for you guys and I just need confirmation. In From the Ground up, it say's deposition is from gas to solid and sublimation is solid to gas and that seems right. In the Air Command Weather Manual they call both the processes sublimation and at first I...

Hey congratulations man! the first solo is for sure something you will remember for a long time in your flying career. I remember when I had my first solo about 4 months ago and it was at CYOO. Hey Cessna 150 - where did you finally go on your cross country? I have yet to go anywhere still:| I have just a few more lessons left which will take a week or 2 and when they are done it is just time building flights so that is when I would like to go somewhere good. About the handheld GPS device...

Re: The 1 in 60 rule
yeah GPS makes a lot of things easier. Only 1 of our aircraft is actually equipped with a GPS which I rarely get to fly which stinks. As for the application of the 1 in 60 rule, the only reason I am asking is because of the Written which is coming up. But thanks for the comments.

The 1 in 60 rule
Can someone please explain to me how the 1 in 60 rule works? I know that at a distance of 60 nm there is an error of 1 nm or 1 degree. But from that how can I determine track error and also how does this rule relate with the time to a VOR station? Yes I know that you turn your aircraft 90 degree to ...

why not get a float rating? ummm after I get my CPL that is what I am going to do :) Weird little airports that are fun to fly into: Iroquois, Ont: - IIRC 23 feet wide and not very long. I have very limited flying experience in Canada (based in the UK), but I have landed at Toronto City (on Centre Island) - fantastic city views and one of the best 'city' airports I have been to for setting / scenery etc. yeah I have flown over that airport numerous times and your right it would be ...

Re: Fun and exciting airports in Ontario?
+1 for Muskoka. Turn your GPS off for the leg and try to mapcrawl all the way in without referencing Hwy 11. That'll be a fun 'low timer' experience. 8) we dont have GPS and I have done that one and not sure what is challenging about it :/, its a big and long runway and it is fun to land on! Totten...
