Looking for work
Hello all, I'm currently looking for info or leads on companies who take lower time pilots for FO spots. I have right around 450tt with co-pilot time on twin turbo-props in Ontario. I've been searching all spring and haven't had any luck. I am willing to relocate. Any bit of help would be greatly ap...

Little will change about the industry, warned Bray, until pilots themselves stand up and refuse to fly in unsafe conditions. The problem is that even if one refuses to fly, there are 10 more waiting to take the job. "That's where the change to the pilot's attitude has to come in," Bray said. "One g...

Hey KiloRomeoUniform, another thing to think about is any restrictions that your school may impose on students and few and scattered clouds. Sure it is legal VFR but many schools do not allow students to fly over such layers (scattered especially). Ask your instructor if they have any rules pertaini...

Sorry Cat I knew what you meant. Unfortunately only someone with an instructor rating can teach towards the issue of a license, ie 230 pilot with instructor rating. Compare that to a pilot with thousands of hours float experience and no instructor rating. A no brainer as to who should be able to tea...

I only meant it would be beneficial from a getting signed off stand point. Having said that I'm sure you could find some guy out there who is experienced in float flying and have an instructor rating to do your training. It will probably cost more but I'm sure Cat would agree with me that you pay fo...

In your case it may be more beneficial to have an instructor do your float rating. If you do it with someone other than an instructor you will not be able to count that as dual time towards the 35 hours required since private for your CPL. In the end you will have to pay for 35 hours so why not do y...

There is Celtic Tech Jet flying corporate charters and offering aircraft management. They have a King Air and a couple of jets (a falcon 90 I believe). Also Innotech-Execaire says they have a pilot base in Ottawa but I don't know anything more that that. Also Westair Aviation is in Ottawa flying Nav...

I would say that one of the main reason's that licences take so long now-a-days is the addition of exercises the the tc syllabus. Now I only instructed for about 3 years and ended not too long ago but I'm sure that instructors from years gone by remember when they could easily get students done in t...
