I've been trying the ads and postings with not much luck.

I guess I'm kind of looking for some insider tips on places looking for people. Anyone?

Looking for work

Hello all, I'm currently looking for info or leads on companies who take lower time pilots for FO spots. I have right around 450tt with co-pilot time on twin turbo-props in Ontario. I've been searching all spring and haven't had any luck. I am willing to relocate. Any bit of help would be greatly ap...

Kilkenny, hands down. The only problem with it is that I am given Kokanee far too often. Maybe I have a speech impediment.

Get your hands on a Haynes manual for you car. I got mine at Canadian Tire or you can order them online http://www.haynes.com/ca.html They are very good manuals and cost around $20.

Little will change about the industry, warned Bray, until pilots themselves stand up and refuse to fly in unsafe conditions. The problem is that even if one refuses to fly, there are 10 more waiting to take the job. "That's where the change to the pilot's attitude has to come in," Bray said. "One g...

Hey KiloRomeoUniform, another thing to think about is any restrictions that your school may impose on students and few and scattered clouds. Sure it is legal VFR but many schools do not allow students to fly over such layers (scattered especially). Ask your instructor if they have any rules pertaini...

Sorry Cat I knew what you meant. Unfortunately only someone with an instructor rating can teach towards the issue of a license, ie 230 pilot with instructor rating. Compare that to a pilot with thousands of hours float experience and no instructor rating. A no brainer as to who should be able to tea...

For some of us we keep our instructor rating by jumping through hoops and teaching TC's way only when being looked at by TC and the rest of the time teach quite contrary to TC's useless mindset with that piece of paper without letting it hold us back.

I only meant it would be beneficial from a getting signed off stand point. Having said that I'm sure you could find some guy out there who is experienced in float flying and have an instructor rating to do your training. It will probably cost more but I'm sure Cat would agree with me that you pay fo...

In your case it may be more beneficial to have an instructor do your float rating. If you do it with someone other than an instructor you will not be able to count that as dual time towards the 35 hours required since private for your CPL. In the end you will have to pay for 35 hours so why not do y...

Diavik is 5200' long. The Antonov's will only be able to do partial loads due to runway length. The need is for the large bulky stuff that could not get up on the ice road and also not fit (size wise, not necessarily weight) on the Herc, i.e. shovels, big equipment tires etc.

I have seen Flight Safety packages on ebay for twin otters and many other airplanes that contain cockpit posters, checklists and manuals etc. Just did a check and there are no twin otters right now but I have seen them on several occasions in the recent past.

There is Celtic Tech Jet flying corporate charters and offering aircraft management. They have a King Air and a couple of jets (a falcon 90 I believe). Also Innotech-Execaire says they have a pilot base in Ottawa but I don't know anything more that that. Also Westair Aviation is in Ottawa flying Nav...

I would say that one of the main reason's that licences take so long now-a-days is the addition of exercises the the tc syllabus. Now I only instructed for about 3 years and ended not too long ago but I'm sure that instructors from years gone by remember when they could easily get students done in t...

Well Cat if I could go back in time and redo my training I would definately be one of your students. My biggest regret about my flight training was doing it at a larger airport with a flight school with lots of planes. Oh to have learned on a tail drager and a grass strip.
