I believe this was a case of, oops, pulled the gear handle up after landing instead of the flaps.
Interesting system though.

Like everyone has said above, It's pretty much broken down into
having the experience to read the water, being able to anticipate
what the machine you're driving is going to do, and what you need
to do to put it down safely.

I have personal experience with this one. As far as flying commercially, good luck. If you don't have South African citizenship forget it. I managed to get a South African Validation on my License to fly ZS registered aircraft out of West Africa. But they put a limitation on the validation that says...

I don't know if this has been said in this post, but if your flap indicator breaks you can tell when you have take-off flap selected if you (while still on the ground/water) put your left aileron full down and pump the flaps down just past when they're flush I wouldnt try this while you're in the ai...
