Re: Air Canada staff will no longer greet 'ladies and gentlemen' onboard planes
“Good morning folks” covers it all. Making mountains out of mole hills. Fact of the matter is, in this day and age there are very few ladies and gentlemen travelling anymore.

I would think with the possession of a stolen handgun charge, the drone conviction would be the least of his worries

Re: Summer Storms
If you think WS is pushing the wx limits in storms, try hanging out at a large US midwest or southern airport in the spring or summer. I hate thunderstorms, I'll tip toe around them, but 40kts, turbulence and 1200RVR is no problem. All what you are used to I guess.

Air Training International has a good online course with videos that walk you through a crossing. Good if you only do a crossing or two a year.

Re: Huge discouragement
Many moons ago when I worked at Lab Air, I was asked by the chief pilot at the time to find a pilot for him. He threw me a bankers box full of resumes. He said throw out all the ones with a picture attached, any that were too professional looking, and he wasn't keen on anybody with a university degr...

I fly a Falcon........other than having to slow the damn thing down to 200kts to get the slats out, it's damn near perfect.

My friend was hired as the second guy. He thought they were hiring another last winter but I haven't spoke to him in a while. He seems to be extremely happy there. I've heard nothing but great things, both with Scotia, Onex, and Barrick. I'm partial to the Dassault family of jets vs Gulfstream 😉 so...

The pilot who walks in with two type ratings is also the one who walked away from their last job with two type ratings. That’s not always the ideal way to get good, long-term people. Maybe people do that in the 702/703 carriers, but good Corporate employers see right through that old trick in the f...

I went to flying school at Interlake Aviation in Gimili, MB back in the late 80's. Almost all the instructors at the time were Norwegian. The school did a big marketing campaign in Europe and it worked. Nothing has changed. Worst thing was, back then you couldn't buy a job.

Re: Where to get definitive list of US airports of entry / landing rights airports
AC-U-KWIK has all the US airports that you can clear customs, with phone numbers and notification requirements. Most FBO's have them in the flight planning rooms. Section in the back of the book. Some airports require 1-2hrs notice, some want a call the day before. Best to check well before you leav...

Lab Air was around since 1948. Sad to see it go. I missed out on the Twotter flying but flew the Shorts 330/360 and Dash-8 with them. Great bunch of people to work with.

Book research questions
Hi folks, I was hoping some of you from the ATC world could help me with a few things. I am writing a book (non-fiction) and the main character is a pilot. I've been in aviation for almost 30 years but have not experienced much from the ATC side of things. When an aircraft declares and emergency and...

I made the jump from airline to corporate 12 years ago. Now days with the turnover at AC and the fast upgrade times.......no way. However as previously mentioned if you're at a regional, or something other than AC or WS, and the right job opens up it might be worth it. There maybe two operators in C...
