Re: What can a Q4 experienced DEC earn at Encore?

A normal T4 is around 100k.
If you work OT you can earn $115K.
If you are a training captain and work OT and work your ass off. $130K.

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

It's hard to say. To answer your question. They would profit indirectly. Which isnt s monetary amount that can be seen or touched by anyone pilot. What I mean by that, is that the company would be able to recruit and raise morale which has an impact on profitability and health of the airline. Which ...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

I agree. Those pilots hired at encore after may 14, although not all would be fully 100% aware of the politics, would of atleast known the result of the vote may 14, that is the argument from the people who are trying to pass resolution. Either way - all pilots hired at either airline are considered...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

No. If the resolution passes, all encore pilots hired before May 14, 2019, their senirority is made whole. Maintaining seniority start date on the westjet pilot senirorty list. Pilots after May 14, start to accrue more senirorty than new hires at encore.

Re: Future hiring

Ya I agree with yycjetdriver, selling a depreciating assest at a profit, then leasing back at favorable terms, is good business sense, especially when your trying to spread capital across multiple divisions of the company. It's quite common. It also reduces risks on the company books, allowing more ...

Re: Future hiring

Yup...that marh works.
My thesis from the beginning is Onex is interested in rapid expansion of swoop to 30 tails. Why wouldn't an investment firm want to expand an operation.at those cost metrics.

Re: Future hiring

He means Scott Wilson (SW), VP Ops at WJA. 300 is alot for Westjet, I think the most they have hired in one year 170ish. If they plan to hire 300, that's massive for our size of operation. Wait to hear the official numbers in the coming weeks. I'll add - we dont control hiring for link. Also - when ...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

If you are hired at mainline as YYZ FO, it would be 4 or 5 years before being able to hold YYC with one list intact. Depending on what our group decides regarding the direction of the one list, that could change. If the one list dies - and all pilots retain their senirority and all future hired pilo...

Re: Future hiring

Westjet keeps claiming they are gearing up for a mass hiring, but I've heard that for 2 years. I've heard multiple managers tell me 500 pilots. October is suppose to be a big bid. We will se if big bid means 12 spots or 60 spots.

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

I'll add, just to be clear in your scenario, if you were to start today as encore FO, work four years, with the ONE lolist intact, you most likely would not be able to hold YYC FO when you flowed. There are hundreds of pilots in front of you trying to do the same thing. For example, I've been at Enc...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

Your scenario is unquantifiable. It is impossible to predict crew planning, fleet plans, expansion, or reductions more than 24 months in the future if Westjet Mgmt/BOD didnt sell the company, and now the fact that we have new owners, who have priorities that are completely ambiguous, makes it comple...

Re: ONEX plans

If onex wants to play hardball with the pilots, we will just play hardball back. Just like before. I belive onex will accelerate growth and sell company via IPO in 5-10 years. Espp plan has been announced for all westjetters except pilots. Pilots are negotiating through alpa team. The replacement pl...

Re: FA STRIKE LOOMING?

What was the approximate number in favor for a strike vote ? I understand this would be frustrating for pilots and other staff, however, having two pay scales for the same position is dangerous. It divides the group and creates further problems down the road by creating a toxic work environment. We ...

Hahaha...big whoop, we lost 20 million for the first time in 13 years!!!! I guess we should forget the last 1 billion in profit over last 3 years. Hahaha. 2018, will still be a profit year! Westjet will be targetting $500million (public projections 2019 onwards) in profit/year and pilots will be get...

Re: Westjet mainline commuting

I would agree with Transoceanic assessment of the EVP changes this summer... the main Execs. who built swoop and other dramatic business changes over the last 2-5 years are gone. There is one more wrong to right....and then all the new blood will be driving this airline into the next 5 years with a ...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

New info has come up indicating that swoop pilots will NOT be fired. I was hoping this wasnt true. I heard its 24 swoop pilots in question...as of May 29. Hoping they voluntarily quit, or pressured to leave within 1st day, or week, month, year. Did anyone see the swoop captain ad that's was posted t...

Swoop pilots will not be accepted at Westjet or Encore. There is no line indoc concerns, because its a moot point.

I agree...great day for westjet/encore pilots. Scope and job protection for years to come. When the wawcons are released on CA day, it will also be a good day. All westjet pilots should celebrate this tonight while ex-swoop pilots are moping preparing resumes.

Re: Captain Upgrade Times

It could be as long as 6 years to flow. There is 500 encore pilots in line to flow. Our best year of flow was 80 pilots. Do the math...6 years × 80 pilots is ~ 500 pilots. Those are in optimal hiring conditions. If your coming to encore prepare for 5+ years to flow, and from date of hire on the prop...

Don't let "sqwak" extremely juvenile comments divide you. Air Canada pilots have been through this, and more, over the last 5 decades. They have a backbone.

Re: Gregg Saretsky is the modern Frank Lorenzo

Tbaylx- we are trying to negotiate a progressive contract. Discussions underway to alleviate pilots from starting at the bottom. Atleast within our company. Again negotiating our worth. This is similar to YOS, but since encore and westjet are united together, and hold a truly unique seniority list, ...
