I recently read in a "western propaganda" news article that Afghanistan is among the most corrupt countries in the world.
Strange.

Re: Propwash Rant
I am getting pretty discouraged by the number of times I have seen training aircraft with instructors onboard who allow the student to manoever the aircraft without considering where the prop wash is going. The latest and most egregious example was a few days ago. I was teaching a lesson on a Nanch...

Re: What a horrible year....Lets all pull together in 2012
We're doing our yearly risk management review at our company. We go through almost every incident report back as far as 20 years over a 3 week period. Some of these reports are fictitious in that they extrapolate to the worst case scenario to exemplify the need for diligence on everyone's part to p...

Re: LOT 767 gear up landing Nice job
What's the big deal? Navajo drivers have been doing that for ages. Of course these guys knew in advance, our Navajo folks just "wing" it..... True, no big deal landing a 767 with the gear up. Common procedure for most of us. You have to remember there is a check list for this -- while hands and fee...

Rocket science not required. Pull your heads out of your asses. Maintain a positive rate of climb after takeoff and on missed approaches. Pretty easy. Don't .. run. Learn to do a 180 degree turn. Right fucken NOW. Don't "push" duty, weights, fatigue, weather. Don't let anybody else "push" you eithe...

Re: Funniest air operator "about us" page!
Do most of you really think that calling a 180 a luxurious aircraft and posting it's gliding speed was not done tongue in cheek? Again, that's exactly what I suspected when I posted this. I still don't see anything to get angry about. Some of the reactions have taken me by surprise. Some people hav...

When was the last time anyone was prosecuted for treason or sedition?! Wouldn't the entire Bloc Quebecois be guilty of that, if they weren't all at home collecting federal pensions now? Louis Riel I believe. After Confederation, a revision of the statutes reduced the number of offences to only thre...

The "WORST" flight crew member you have ever flown with?
Title is self explanatory. Given the amount of eyes which glance this forum, I think there will be some entertaining stories. This hopefully will teach others a good lesson on what "not" to do as their careers progress. Not limited to Capt / FO relations although it would be preferred. Maybe you wer...

Re: Air Canada halts overnight stays in downtown Winnipeg
Okay, so let's say that Air Canada's motives were simply due to the native population / trend of crime, ok..... so what's the point? Are they afraid they will have nobody else to rob? Are they truly concerned about human rights? (referring to Chiefs) . Did they make these claims in person or via sat...

Insurance companies have nothing to do with this as there is no rate factor. Really?? Maybe you should apply to fly for Miramax as a pilot flying in one of their movie shoots and get back to me about the insurance requirements thing..the truth it is all about what the insurer wants and believe me i...

Re: Mechanical failures....check lists...SOPs and decisions.
No body said that experience makes you competent. What I said was that to be competent you need good judgment and you won't get that without experience. If you were using good judgment you would see that I was simply suggesting that all of you treat your elders with more respect I generally fail to...

Re: Mechanical failures....check lists...SOPs and decisions.
Nobody can be considered wise that has done little. Wisdom is earned through exposure and experience. Wisdom is very seldom associated with the young, because its usually based on experience and the young simply haven't been around long enough. That's not to diminish young peoples skills, because ...

Re: Mechanical failures....check lists...SOPs and decisions.
Actually experience is how you derive judgment and competence and its a damn good thing to have. Don't you understand that the insurance companies want a certain amount of experience before they will give you the best rate. Common sense ain't very common on this site sometimes. Egotistical response...

Re: Mechanical failures....check lists...SOPs and decisions.
Odd how experience is treated as unimportant - even with contempt - in aviation. I figured that you could probably learn something from old pilots, but I guess that isn't the case, because there's nothing to be learned from experience. An old timer once told me : "Experience says f*** all about the...
