Re: Recruiting Video
One possible solution might be the involvement of more very senior pilots in negotiations, those who love the company and know its potential and garner great respect from all, to build consensus and move things forward. That will benefit all, veterans, newcomers, the vocal minority, the silent majo...

Re: RYanair forced to land in “White Russia”
I'm not joking. I don't know what you mean by a high trust society. Who's trusting whom, and to do what? You engaged in the conversation without understanding what was being discussed. What does a trusting society consist of? Start with that. I’d like to know what you meant as well. When you answer...

Re: RYanair forced to land in “White Russia”
It all comes down to men seeking power...time will tell if he is tortured and then you can continue to defend these actions. Cry a river. He's on a terrorist list for acts committed against Belarus and their people. It's their duty to bring him in to face charges. He will have a chance to defend hi...

Re: Westjet mask policy
I will leave you with this thought rockie. Then you can be the internet hero and get the last childish insult in. If you wish to be taken seriously and have people believe in your point of view-like wearing a mask- you should refrain from the insults and trying to embarrass, shame or belittle the o...

Re: Westjet mask policy
Actually I was referring to his habit of conversing like a 12 year old. Lol. Based on my experience of never having seen a pilot put lol at the beginning and end of every sentence. I know 12 year olds who do though, and that’s not old enough to be a pilot. Lol Rockie He’s not worth arguing with. I’...

Re: Westjet mask policy
Are you a pilot Hotdog? Honest question and not a prelude to an insult. Airline? Not that it’s relevant, but maybe I am. Why would that matter? Let me guess, you’re going to start down the road of ‘if your company tells you to, do you it? Or tell the company it’s bull shot?’ Or something along that...

Re: Government aid is comming for the airlines
Pitiful. This government is a real shame; hopefully Canada will get real leaders one day... Yah, lets get that conservative party back in power, you know, the ones that took away the right to strike for Air Canada pilots, remember them ???? I’ll take them any day over the clown show running the cir...

Re: Will Westjet survive?
Management did their best to paint the pilots as the devil during negotiations and pit the rest of the employees against them. I think what we have here is an example of the brainwashing having its intended effect. Management didn't try to paint pilots as the devil, ya'll did that when you lined th...
Re: One List
The reason why the last vote was rejected was mostly due to misinformation. The polling done afterward showed that the majority of people heard a rumour, didn't bother to read the proposal, and voted based on the rumour. Please do share. What was this rumour that caused me to vote the way I did?

Re: Did Encore MEC insist on no back flow?
JBI This particular rumour started from one of our captains who claimed to hear it directly from our CEO. The captain is well respected with no reason to make it up. If it’s not true the westjet/encore MECs should set us straight in writing. As it is now, if one believes this rumour, it would appear...

Did Encore MEC insist on no back flow?
As mentioned in another post, there is a pretty strong rumour that it was the Encore MEC who rejected the bump and flush language in the failed LOU. If this is true, the Encore pilots should be asking their MEC why the MEC insisted on this. If the flow down ability had been in the failed LOU, it wou...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO
One thing your average Encore pilot won’t tell you is that during their interview they were asked if they understood the “One List?” They were also made to understand that the list was nothing more than a handshake and was not enshrined in anything. It was also made clear that it could go away. Lon...
Re: One List
Fine and dandy to proclaim "true one list". Riddle me this scenario: Lets say 10 pilots are hired at WJ/WJE and they are botl. They are pilots #2001-2010 on the "true one list" #2001-5 are WJ mainline #2006-10 are WJE There are 400+ Encore pilots waiting to flow above all these new hires. Let's say...

Ok, fair enough.
Can you now post why a proposed one list would go against the article in the CBA that you referenced?

Re: A "NEW" One List?
Whoever is at the bottom of the "one list" gets laid off. Doesn't matter if its a Dash guy or a 737 guy or a 767 guy or a 787 guy. That's the idea of "one list". Agreed, and I would love that, but how does this get done if it violates the mainline Collective Agreement? Well, I’m not the lawyer, lol...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
How about this; if we truly want “one list” then make it one list. If there are layoffs to be made, then the layoffs start at the bottom of the list. Doesn’t matter where they are(Encore or Mainline), whoever is at the bottom gets laid off. I'm definitely in favour of this. However, what if its the...

Re: Are things now better for WJ pilots?
Who wants to be forced to take a job at Encore (if laid off)? That’s a prime opportunity to pick up a lucrative contract or go back to the bush for a season or travel. If the next iteration of the one list forces me to fly a Q, I’ll vote no to that. What a mess :( Ahhh, the infamous "That's a prime...

I think we’re trying to mandate the MEC do something better than that. Hopefully the MEC’s will have a comm out soon
