Re: Junkers Ju-52 plane Swiss Alps
First of all, my condolences to the families of the Passengers and Crew, and everyone at Ju-Air. I have flown Ju-Air in the summer of 2016, in fact, my flight was on HB-HOT. The weather was beautiful, the crew were professional, friendly, well organized. They flew the valleys in the Alps in a very s...

WANTED: Headset for child
I'm starting to take my three year old flying in my Piper Archer. First flight revealed that a standard size headset was really not compatible with his child seat (or comfortable). Anyone done with theirs? Kids all grown?

The spikes are used a lot in C-Train stations and fixtures in Calgary (and elsewhere) - and seem to be quite successful. But you cannot argue the coolness of using USB controlled missiles controlled from your office computer.

Steve Wolf makes the rest of us look like we have the IQ of a carrot. But Steve said he was thinking that when the front seat was empty - as it often is - you could install some triangulating clamps and steel cable and turnbuckles, to stiffen it up, and not require any paperwork. Brilliant. Very. O...

I keep looking at the photo and thinking it would be so easy to add pedals, with a meter. Then you could discount the airfare according to how fast you can spin!

I've got so many cards, it's ridiculous. So many different qualifications, licences, health card number, SIN, credit, debit, rewards and more rewards cards. I hope that one day we reduce this number of cards, papers we carry around in general. I know it can be done, it could be quite easy for that ...

Re: Bob Hoover Prevents Accident
Really? It took Bob Hoover to tell the pilot who was flying a high performance aircraft that pulling some Gs might free the landing gear? Honestly, I wouldn't have wasted one of my lifelines on that one before trying it out myself. Fair enough. But on the other hand, he got to chat with Bob Hoover ...

There was an article in the AB papers about Jr. Engineers starting salary of $80 to $85000. If a fresh engineering grad was making that kind of money straight out of school it would certainly be an exception. Even in the Calgary oil patch. Have you got a link to the article which claims this? [Afte...

The whole problem with credential creep is that it actually devalues "higher education" because if everyone has it, how much can it be worth? I think I see where you're coming from - but I disagree that more education is devalued by everyone having it. "credentials for the sake of credentials" may ...

Hey! The Katana is WAY prettier than a 172. AND it has a stick. :piflyforpie wrote: But it seems that the composite mindset is dead set on velocity and efficiency and pretty airplanes (though the DA20 is a stretch).

Heat damage and limitations are an old joke or urban legend. It is just not there for all practical purposes. Can link to the POH. Or realistically how many Boeings or Airbuses are grounded for this reason? The DA20C1 I learned in hd a limitation of 54 C on the interior. There is actually an indica...

Re: I wish new C-172s were a bit better.
Speculative comment on my part, but another possible reason why the 172 design hasn't really changed a lot (despite the availability of more advanced materials, and other opportunities to really revolutionize the design) is that Liability consideration again. If you make major changes to the design,...

I don't know. I like to push flying as much as the next guy here, but if you want to fly because you love flying - then is flying really for you? Re: Tell us about YOUR flight training...
I've never really seen the Katana/Evolution series of planes in that way. I find them far easier to fly than the Cessnas. I was mostly coming at it from the point of view of energy management, and getting ahead of the airplane. They don't shed energy easily, and if you couple that with the long gli...
