Good point Donald, I agree it is most definitely NOT fair if such a candidate was hired over another because of gender...but how many times do we see discimination in so many other forms...small men missing out over larger guys because of "loading the airplane". Better looking, taller guys can also ...

No, I got back last night...geez, get it straight. I'll be going for good in about a week and a half.

I'd buy you a beer, but I can't afford it. Perhaps we can sneak in a flask, a-la-highschool and order water.

Damn Shimmy...are we gonna set this up on the dock this summer? Right on!!

DOn't forget early morning hot coffee chugging to start the events.

Candidates must be able to drink an XL cup of coffee and then hop into a plane for a 2 hour flight without chance of relief.

as a vertically challenged pilot meself...I used the pedals on a 172 for part of my training...they cost a lot though, so some flight schools may not be able to (want to) afford them (I heard $500?) Sooo, another instructor of mine (also on the short side) encouraged me to quit using them...you'll h...

What we were suggesting is that you finish your training on floats...ie:get some of your commercial time on a float plane...which would give you a bit of a jump start if you want to work on floats in the future. (Thus avoiding the cost of a "bush course" and speeding things up for you) Many places o...

no, sorry, but they have a website...www.sudburyaviation.net ? something like that.
Marg Watson-Hyland is the operator there...nice lady.

I believe I saw something on their site about financial stuff, so you may be able to get financial aid there too.

Sudbury Aviation advertises flight training on floats towards completing a licence. (on a 172 I think) you may be able to try for a dockhand position there too.

Luck, and a lot of "polite" pestering...it's a fine line. A good resume helps too...they assume you can fly, you got the licence, now what ELSE can you do for them that will make it worth their while to hire you. Customer service, any trade skills, outgoing, enthusiastic (not just another quiet pilot)

In case anybody's looking it up, I saw it too, but it wasn't "Mayday", it was "disaster detectives" I think.
Pretty dramatic and tear-jerking show, but they did make some valid points.

I am sorry for your friend.
