Re: Death of Paper Maps?

I think half the point of learning to calculate manually is to give yourself the ability to “sniff test” the data foreflight etc gives you. If you do a bunch of manual calculations you can look at what the software puts out and make sure it seems reasonable. I’m not saying you need to manually calcu...

New government legislation coming in that is going to make companies that contract flip eg CPA to CPA pay the same wage and keep people retaining their longevity for pay and vacation. C-86 I believe. Thanks. i appreciate the quick response. So my curiosity is, what is the incentive to stay after Jazz spends the money training you? Uhhh, best working conditions in Canada for a regional (even mainline is debatable), a career, two year upgrades? Shall I go on? Lots of regionals with better pay and...

Followed by an appointment how many weeks later" after the file comes ba...

Routing above FL410

Good morning

I was curious about this today since I don’t fly corporate, if you get above 410 is is a lot easier to get direct routings and avoid the zig zag of the airways since you are above most of the traffic?

Re: How's morale with uncertainty of the one list?

Keep going Weed Pro...not all pilots want the one list. I know myself and all the off the street direct hires don’t. When I was hired my hiring package was dated 2009 and no where was their mention of a combined list. After 4 + years at WestJet my class still has 14 unflowed Encore pilots ahead of ...

Re: Savin' the Prop

Maybe in a Michael Bay movie. But then, the whole aircraft would have exploded, regardless. Deliberately compounding an emergency to save pieces of the aircraft is a stupid thing to do. I take it you've fucked up an engine and prop for no good reason, and resent it when other pilots extend well des...

Re: Stalls into a headwind or Tailwind

When landing into a strong tailwind as compared to a headwind ( whether or not you KNOW what the wind direction is ) you WILL have a poorer tailwind landing. I would imagine the same holds true with stalls etc ! That’s due to the ground speed you touch down at, faster you are going the quicker the ...

well done, its a sign of good decision making and not only to save the engine but a turning prop can also be deadly if spinning when hitting the ground.

Re: $55 charge, for processing medical?!

AIP - you used to get a nice little binder in the mail with about 5 years worth of updates along with it everytime there was a revision. Best part is sometimes you replaced the same page 5 times. This evolved into the AIM in printed form which everytime it was revised you just got a whole new manual...

Re: Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

Lightchop....that is a pretty interesting comment. I worked at a connector airline many years ago and experienced ALPA leadership. Trying to be all things to all groups, while in fact letting down their most vulnerable members was sad to watch. Made me think that I wouldn't want to be part of a mer...

Re: 704/705 pilots still flying in GA

I love flying GA, for me it’s mainly floats on the side. I have zero desire to fly multi-ifr for fun. Nordo off some random lake though and it’s super peaceful and will make most guys who forgot that flying is fun enjoy it again. The hardest part about GA flying is convincing the wife that all the c...

Re: Cannabis Policy ???

I do get it, I know that pilots as a group have a lot of gains to make in order to make it the desirable profession it once was. Using Cannabis to make that point isn't gaining any traction with me. If I had it my way, it should have remained illegal and it is not like alcohol. If it was, folks wou...

A) you come off very entitled and that probably shows in any interview, frankly if you had 3000 hours with that attitude I still wouldn’t hire you. If you came into training will you have studied everything and be ready before Day 1 or are you going to show up expecting everything to be spoon fed to...

Too bad for the 1900. It’s been ripping around the taxiways in YYZ for years.

I wonder who will take the throne for the fastest taxi now?

Correct me if I am wrong on this point but I believe a ppl can even have a beer and still go flying so long as they are under the .8 and a cpl can fly (in Canada) with a BAC of .8 or less as long as they meet the bottle to throttle rules? your wrong, 0.08 (which I'm assuming you meant) is the crimi...

It’s as simple as when US Customs asks if you have ever smoked weed and you respond honestly with yes followed by a US travel ban. Try explaining to the company that you need to be scheduled for CAN flying only because you like to toke.

What routes does GGN fly out of YYZ, on the 1900s? Will Jazz get those routes then? Thats what its looking like from the bid pacs. I've also noticed the addition of CYXC overnights and the associated flying coming up out west. Just speculation, but I'm thinking the pressure from WJ link is being fe...
