Re: Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

Lightchop....that is a pretty interesting comment. I worked at a connector airline many years ago and experienced ALPA leadership. Trying to be all things to all groups, while in fact letting down their most vulnerable members was sad to watch. Made me think that I wouldn't want to be part of a mer...

Re: 704/705 pilots still flying in GA

I love flying GA, for me it’s mainly floats on the side. I have zero desire to fly multi-ifr for fun. Nordo off some random lake though and it’s super peaceful and will make most guys who forgot that flying is fun enjoy it again. The hardest part about GA flying is convincing the wife that all the c...

Re: Cannabis Policy ???

I do get it, I know that pilots as a group have a lot of gains to make in order to make it the desirable profession it once was. Using Cannabis to make that point isn't gaining any traction with me. If I had it my way, it should have remained illegal and it is not like alcohol. If it was, folks wou...

Re: Where is this so called shortage

A) you come off very entitled and that probably shows in any interview, frankly if you had 3000 hours with that attitude I still wouldn’t hire you. If you came into training will you have studied everything and be ready before Day 1 or are you going to show up expecting everything to be spoon fed to...

Too bad for the 1900. It’s been ripping around the taxiways in YYZ for years.

I wonder who will take the throne for the fastest taxi now?

Re: Cannabis Policy ???

Correct me if I am wrong on this point but I believe a ppl can even have a beer and still go flying so long as they are under the .8 and a cpl can fly (in Canada) with a BAC of .8 or less as long as they meet the bottle to throttle rules? your wrong, 0.08 (which I'm assuming you meant) is the crimi...

Re: Cannabis Policy ???

It’s as simple as when US Customs asks if you have ever smoked weed and you respond honestly with yes followed by a US travel ban. Try explaining to the company that you need to be scheduled for CAN flying only because you like to toke.

Re: GGN YYZ 1900 to Cease Operation

What routes does GGN fly out of YYZ, on the 1900s? Will Jazz get those routes then? Thats what its looking like from the bid pacs. I've also noticed the addition of CYXC overnights and the associated flying coming up out west. Just speculation, but I'm thinking the pressure from WJ link is being fe...

Eyebrow I’d be willing to bet that the WJ pilots who accepted the job 20 years ago made more money in overall compensation than any pilot at AC.

Re: As Air Canada soars, WestJet takes a predictable nosedive

AC & WJ are doing well , but the airline that may not be around in 5 years time, is Air Transat. They continue to add capacity , as fares are weak , and the A 310 is a hog for fuel. They also are in a situation where they don't own any of their A/C. to be fair to Transat they are replacing all the ...

It’s incredible considering they have 2 people on board as well, imagine how much higher it could go with only 1 person because they could make everything lighter. I would be extremely curious what kind of coffin corner it ends up being at those altitudes

Im genuinely curious so why is there so much talking in the last 500' then on the bus?
Sometimes less is better is it not?
Is this a result of adding a new SOP every time something happened and the corrective action was to add more words?

On Porter it is free because they pay the tax for you. That is also the reason only one reciprocal jumpseater is allowed on each porter flight, even if there are more empty spots. That information is a year old but is still correct I believe. I've heard that as well but I call bs. A few airlines do...

Yeah it's fine. Ignore the naysayers. You'll learn more in two years flying right seat at a regional (approx time for upgrades right now) than you will flying a Navajo or Cessna or whatever for like 6 months. Plus, airlines are all about seniority. If you have an ATPL (even if you don't, you can bu...

I think the lifestyle killing you is referring to any cargo operator since you are predominantly flying all night which destroys the body over the long term.
