Re: New Pilots

There is a shortage of EXPERIENCED pilots not freshly licensed ones. Offering to pay for training isn’t going to help your situation either

Re: CanForce to China with the PM

I guess in the end I thought we might have something that seems comparable to the US but again we do not. No Air to Air refueling seems like a security issue to me.

Re: CanForce to China with the PM

While I agree with most of what is said in this thread, I would think the Polaris can do Air to air refueling along with probably having bigger tanks / additional ones over the standard 310 but I stand to be corrected

Re: Ggn recruiter ad.

A few northern 703 carriers are paying over 100k for 704 drivers right now with around the 16 day / month mark so 150 isn’t out of the question for an expensive city like yyz.

Re: Ggn recruiter ad.

That is where you have it wrong, some people would love to fly smaller airplanes if it paid well, 16 day month for 150k / yr and I bet guys would never leave the 1900

What doesn’t make sense to me is AC tried to hostile relationship and it hurt the company, they looked at WJ and seem to be greatly improving the employee relationship with success so why WJ seems stubborn to go against that model is baffling.

Re: Not the best time for an unstable approach

If anything I think it shows a high level of professionalism that the crew was diverting for an engine issue, realized they were unstable and didn’t try to “force it in there”.

The only thing is you would need to prove he never used any sort of headset as well which can be tough when going that far back in history. Headset technology certainly isn’t where it is today but some guys used it others didn’t.

Re: Career move - what would you do (opinions?)

I think you will need some more multi time / commercial operational experience before jazz would take you. Lots of 703/4 companies out there are looking for guys now though and you may like it more than you think.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I was just invited to the on-line video and don't have 737 time. But do have 6000+ hours, with heavy wide body PIC time. When do the next few courses start? Will they be filled with mostly 737 slots? Out of pure curiosity, why would a pilot with you experience want a job that pays 50K a year? Short...

I doubt we will see driverless cars for the pure reason of how many people drive around with a check engine light on or an ABS light on. Can you imagine how much it will cost to maintain a driverless car with all the sensors required????

Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots

I think one of the biggest differences is the millennials have zero loyalty to the airline they work for, it is yet to be seen but I personally think that will be good for wages. AC was divided by "Canadian" and "Air Canada" guys after the merger and even before they hated each other a lot. Most mil...

zero requirement, I bet most airliners being operated into the mountains are done by pilots that never had a "mountain checkout"

Lots of parts are the same though, along with Maint training and I believe it’s even just trained as a differences at jazz as far as line in doc goes. Another big factor will be if BBD can get the production costs down to compete with the 37. I saw something about united getting the last 37 order fo...

Re: C-Series now controlled by Airbus

The Q is their most successful product. Highly doubt that. That is what will make it actually worth some money and allow them to sell it off and pay down debt. The 74/78 seat versions of the Q aren't very cost competitive to the ATR but that new 90 seat version will probably bring its CASM down qui...

Re: Canadian Looking for Insights About Career Possibilities Related to ATS.

Certain regions are deemed "less desirable" and end up a little bit easier to get on from my understanding YWG being one of them. I don't work for NAV Canada but most people I know are willing to give tours for pilots I'm not sure if they do them for someone just off the street but it could be an op...

Boeing and the sociopathic infant in the Whitehouse tried to kill a competitor and ended up strengthening another. Re: 737 MAX 8 Delivery and "Celebration Hangar Event"

I think the issue is you don't always need a 757 sized airplane otherwise no one would have smaller ones. I believe the 37 max's are more efficient than the smaller 320's so that's probably the reason they are extremely successful. With the BBD/Airbus C-series and the 320/321NEO product line now fo...
