Re: Jazz for Life
Rouge = Air Canada so it’s the same from a pilots perspective essentially. Jazz = Chorus aviation and they are at the whim of a contract from AC. A few years ago this flying was being done by a few different carriers in Georgian and sky regional and it may get farmed out to more carriers again down ...

Re: 1900D to mainline or regionals?
Stay and go Captain on the 1900 for a year. There is a good chance you will be laid off at some point in your career and it could come in handy then. It will also set you apart from the thousand other FO's with no PIC time, give you confidence, and make you a better pilot. Also it will make your up...

Re: Porter vs AC
AC, the reason the older guys are suggesting it is they have seen the ups and downs of the industry and companies shut down and start up all while AC has been a constant. AC is not immune to downturns by any means but by being a 100+ widebody international airline it will always survive in one form ...

Re: Hiring forecast
Have they mentioned any issues with aircraft deliveries delaying hiring plans? A lot of US carriers have either stopped or slowed hiring as a result so I’d imagine WJ is even more exposed being only 737

Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?
Thank you. If there were no WB FO positions during the PIT class, how long does it usually take to get a NB to WB transfer? (provided you come to AC with jet time) If you are really junior you don’t want to be a WB FO since the narrowbody has a 16 day max cap but junior WB can be working more than ...

Re: Best aircraft for 1 day pairings?
How does fleet assignment work with AC? Do you get a list of all airplanes available and you draw a number from a hat to get a seniority number and pick what's on the board in order? Is it the same for bases? (pretty much like Jazz?) Do you have to be lucky to have options for WB FO or RP on WB? Or...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I’m 99% sure we don’t use Sabre or Radixx, ours is processed through Amelia. Your numbers, below, illustrate in perfect clarity why pilots should fly, and leave the bookkeeping tasks, to bookkeepers. I won’t say everything is fine but I will say you should shut your yap when spouting off on topics ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Are you sure it's not just a technical issue with the website booking system or payment processor? Surely there would be more news on this if it were actually intentionally disabled. For three days? And not a peep from Flair about it? If it was just a tech issue it probably would have been solved w...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I don't think ANYTING is clearcut, lots of companies fucked around and (didn't) find out. The Bay didn't pay landlords during covid, Porter didn't pay Nieuport rent during covid. The difference with Flair is their leases were likely below market rate so there was in incentive for the lessors to tak...

Air France and 24L don’t mix. The O5 accident on this same rwy came through a shot of 30-40 tailwind component not too far from the threshold, with the severe wind shifts around some unusually heavy thunderstorm activity encountered at a time when a number of other flights were diverted to alternat...

Re: Transat or Porter?
The sale leaseback is a way to raise capital, eg buy from embreaer for 40 mill, sell to lesser for 45 mill and lease back based on a 60 mill valuation on the aircraft. Port gets 5 million now when the business is extremely capital intensive in exchange for a higher total investment on the aircraft i...

What are you basing this on? The fact that he works there and it's information he wants to believe. Porter being a privately held company, he has no way of knowing its financials any further than what managers and executives tell them during townhalls. I wonder if said managers and execs ever have ...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Just a note from your posted article, revenue growth doesn’t mean profit growth. In fact a company can have 100 million in revenue with a 20 million profit and be much more successful than a company with 1 billion in revenue (10x growth) and only 10 million in profit.

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
That’s exactly it, the CRA can’t seize one aircraft worth over 67 million and be like ok we’re good when flair doesn’t own the aircraft. If flair outright owned the 737 with no loan / lease in it then that would work but it’s not the case. The CRA wants their money and they don’t want to shut a busi...

I can’t see why Lynx would even want flair. Why would they saddle themselves with all that debt ?
