Re: Is ATPL required to get on at AC

Sorry, guess i should have worded my question differently. Does anyone know if Air Canada has ever hired a pilot without them having an ATPL.
Thanks in advance!

Is ATPL required to get on at AC

HI, just wondering if an ATPL is required to be employed with AC? I am a 3200 hr F/O with about 1600 hrs on 705 aircraft. I have a university degree but am short on PIC time. If they do hire commercially rated pilots, do they have a PIC under supervision program?
Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks

Aviator 2010, again as I said before. Your arrogance, ignorance, and just plain old stupidity are astounding. A few lawsuits could take alot of zero's from that billion that you speak of!

Re: Travelling with a Dog

If you are flying out of Edmonton, I would be wary. They seem to have a thing for denying dogs at the check-in. Its happened to 2 of my friends. The first one was traveling home to see a dying family member, dog and crate ended up weighing 109 lbs, they refused to take it as baggage. Supervisor said...

Re: Discovery Air

Bus driver, I do not believe that this money is as good as gone. I believe that Discovery Air is a viable enterprise that will be able to repay its loans, if they were not able to, the loan would not have been given. As for what the company is worth, depends on what you are looking at; the value of ...

Re: Discovery Air

The reason that many companies are in dire straits nowadays are because of the credit crunch! Many profitable companies are not able to get financing because the banks are not willing to lend the money, even to companies whose bottom line is respectable.

Re: Discovery Air

I don't understand why there is so much negativity towards this deal. It is not a bailout, it is a loan! You think that people who work in the same industry would be happy to see it go through. Discovery Air is drawing a loan from the opportunities fund. Using the fund for what it is meant to do. Ot...

Re: Flying in Portugal

Not sure what it is like now. I looked into converting my license there a few years ago. Was not easy. A JAA license is required. As for the types of flying there, not many options. TAP is the national airline. They tend to hire younger pilots. Portugalia was bought by TAP, and they prefer to hire o...

Re: Ramp jobs: Buffalo Airways vs Air Tindi

Guys, I am with Hoov on this one. Buffalo and Air Tindi have given lots of pilots their start in this industry. Better to take a job working the ramp than to have no job at all. There are not many jobs out there for 250 hour wonders that will put you in the right seat of a multi turbine machine. Doc...

Re: air tindi

From what I hear, Tindi is a good place to be. Company is very stable, which is good if the industry slows down. As for wages, there have been some updated payscales lately. From what I hear, some of the best paid King Air drivers in the country. No training bonds. Ops is getting some updates as wel...

Re: You have to love Canada

Remember, we all came from somewhere. Being a first generation Canadian, I understand how hard it is to get ahead in this country. However, putting a stop to immigration is not the answer. Everything that I have ( and it is not a lot) has come to me through my hard work and perseverance. I learned t...

Re: Yellowknife Ramp

I don't know about other places, but Tindi is a good place to be right now. The wait to fly is dropping considerably. Upgrades are coming pretty fast. They don't hire experienced F/O's, all are promoted from within the company, yes even the 250 hr guys. Like the grasshopper said, Summit is a good pl...

Re: Yellowknife Ramp

It used to be 2 years at Tindi, but times have changed. The next round of checkouts should have a bunch of guys who have been here for barely a year, might even find some with less. Its as good a time as ever to sign up. Who knows when the carousel might stop, and you can always keep looking once yo...

Re: Cold snap grounds AC flights to/from Yellowknife

I don't think Tindi cancelled flights because of the cold. It was due to the weather in YZF. Take-off minima were hard to come by for most of the day.
