Re: First Air Crash Resolute Bay August 20 2011
Having liaised with First Air operations for the better part of that fateful afternoon and night, I can only say that their professionalism, focus and clear thinking were unparalleled. The composure that Mike D and his team showed while the events unfolded is in a class of its own. My condolences t...

On a global scale, Al Jazeera has more new credibility than CNN or any news/media agency. Even BBC UK takes some of its international stories from Al Jazeera. +1 Both CNN and BBC have lost a few reporters and producers to Al Jazeera.. Based on the opinionated newscasts (a la MSNBC and FOX) I would ...

So my question is what happens to the limited Suncor flying they've been doing?
Curious to know if they're going to be marketed as Enerjet?

I could have sworn seeing SkyRegional posting positions for in-house ground handlers but I cannot recall if that was specifically for YUL or YTZ as well.

Re: This holiday season
One western-based airline is giving the option to flight crews working over Christmas to bring along their spouse/companion/partner free of charge on a confirmed, space available basis for their overnight. First time they've ever done that. As well, most flight crews get Christmas dinner at their re...

Re: Enerjet
Good for the Morgan's to keep fighting the battle but I'm curious how efficient any operation is going to be with only 1 aircraft now. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they had to dump their 2nd a/c as fast as possible but it seems now they're limiting themselves when it comes to being awarded contracts...

Sunwing to AMS?
I was on the Sunwing website today and noticed they're advertising YYZ-AMS for a portion of the summer. The flight times don't seem to take into account any fuel stopovers so I'm curious if Sunwing will be leasing a 757 for this service or are they in fact planning a fuel stop with the 738? I though...

I heard the other day 5T's -300 is causing some grief with getting TC certification.. They've actually been outsourcing some aircraft for a few flights cuz they were expecting the -300 online by now but isn't. Anyone at 5T know what's going on with their recent purchase? Sidebar.. Congrats to Air No...

Air North fleet?
I was in YVR the other day and saw Air North's newly acquired -400 series... looking pretty sharp! Anyways, I remember hearing they were supposed to be getting their hands on a -500 series at some point. Is this still true? If so, would that make their jet fleet: 3x-200 1x-400 1x-500 Any insight wou...

Re: Enerjet
I am not 100% certain but I do not believe EJ owns their a/c. Their startup capital may have covered the costs of purchasing 1 73G but definitely not 2. They're for sure ex-Air Tran aircraft. Not sure if they're sub-leased by Air Tran to EJ or if the leasing company is doing business directly with E...

Re: Enerjet
I think the 73G was detrimental to their lack of success thus far. Apart from having the range to operate all of North and Central America at a reasonable fuel burn, the birds would have to fly at least a few times a day - everyday - to keep up with lease payments alone! The lack of capacity versus ...

Standing by for an essay by Realitychex... :checkmark: Good to hear PD's numbers are on the rise. Congrats to RD and the PD team! I wonder how their numbers are going to look for the usual slow season (Sep-Nov). Unlike most carriers who see a drop in traffic, I imagine that with everyone back on Ba...

Re: Porter Incident at YHZ Sept 12.
Looks like the PD Ops group will be busy for the next few days "enhancing and/or optimizing" their flight schedules with what seemingly appears to be at least 1 u/s aircraft UFN. From the pic on CBC.ca (and my years of airport op experience), I can only assume there never appeared to be a marshaller...

Did they close Villeneuve (ZVL)? I don't think so. Ok, I'm going to pretend to blame my ignorance on the fact I haven't lived in the YEG area for +4 years. Nonetheless I didn't even give ZVL any thought! That being said, has it been confirmed that any businesses and/or flight schools...

Re: Edmonton City Centre Airport
I'm curious to know what (if any) long term plans have been thought of given the soon to be surge of GA traffic at YEG. Regardless of the YYC vs. YEG argument, YEG has seemingly increased it's commercial traffic dramatically over the last few years. YEG wants to be so much like YYC yet when it comes...

After 89 years, it is offical. MX will seize flying by tomorrow. My most sincere thoughts are with all MX employees and especially my friends in both YYC & YVR. I think someone overdosed on the Kool-aid today
It's ok, though. I've heard if this happens, you can overcome the affects by sipping a Steamwhistle or two.
Make sure to let us all know how you feel in the morning.

Re: More Q400's for Porter
I can easily see them adding a few transborder flights from YOW. The route possibilities outside of YTZ are quite high. Grow YHZ more and add a maritime hub or focus city, perhaps. It will be interesting to see what they do outside of the island flying. With up to 10 more planes on the way, there's ...

Re: Dispatcher Jobs at WS?
Alot of people in OCC have started in various positions. Most notably TAC (ramp), the call centre, or as a CSA. As long as you have the knowldege, education, and certification behind you sometimes it's best just to "get your foot in the door" and work your way up from there. It may take up to a year...

WS staffs approximately 30 crew members for each aircraft. Some are part-time but the majority are full-time.UKPilot wrote:At what level does WestJet crew their aircraft?

Realitychex Other than the DoT stat's - are you able to provide a source for your info? I can't seem to find any numbers that resemble yours on their IPO prospectus (although to be fair, that is the only place I scouted for info). Just curious, that's all. On a side note, when talking financials - ...
