Re: AI Future Effects on Aviation Industry.

So I asked GPT-4 about it. 😜 Here is the answer: I understand your concern. Artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly and it has many applications in aviation. However, I don’t think airplanes will become fully automated in the near future. There are many challenges and limitations that prevent au...

Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.

It’s been approx. 100-120/yr for the past few years. You can expect that number to remain the same until the last boomer retires in the next 5 years or so.

Re: How many hours?

Lots of King Air medevac pilots and Encore FO's in the latest Air Canada new hire bios. Not quite 250 hours yet but they're getting closer. Interesting. The experience sure has gone down in the last few years. I’m curious to hear about the 3000+ hour guys, what kind of experience did you have befor...

One job lets you log real flight hours.

The other one doesn’t.

Food for thought.

And it’s not changing anytime soon.

Each time I go for recurrent sim, there’s a lineup of guys in suits waiting to interview.

Guys litteraly step on each other to come here. And I don’t blame them.

Re: Do you check your killer items just prior to takeoff?

Taking off with the apu running won't kill you in your aircraft type. It's not a killer item. I'll use the Navajo as an example, takeoff with the outboard tanks selected could put you in the trees at the end of the runway. It will kill you. Yeah? It’s definitely an undesired aircraft state. Which h...

Re: Do you check your killer items just prior to takeoff?

Xander, why APU off? Because in most cases (99% of the time, unless one of the engine bleeds is MEL’d) it’s not necessary for takeoff. Furthermore, there is an altitude limitation for running the APU (33000’ on my aircraft) and if you run the APu above that, you will get an « APU EXEEDANCE » Eicas ...

I'm from Chicoutimi and as a young air cadet back in the 1990's we used to visit Bagotville once a year. They made a point to tell us that if Alcan hadn't been there, the Air Base would not be there.

List of human priorities:

1. Show me da money.

2. End.

That's why pilots pay to fly, and will continue to do so for quite some time.
