Re: M2 Fixed Wing transition to M1 or M2 helicopters

just a type course to sign off a turbine powered helicopter, however an amo may require more experience than just the type course before issuing ACA. Shouldn’t be hard to get these days. You’ll need to get an M1 for anything piston/small

Re: Pilot/AME questions...

I disagree, it has worked out well for me. I had 120hs and a fresh M1 license and walked into a flying job. I now run a maintenance shop through the winter and put down the tools to fly for the summer. Endorsed on 7 types to fly and wrench. I have never been without work. Having said this, it also d...

Re: Can an employer make you sign a contract for an INHOUSE

Do not sign a contract for that. I'm in rotary as well, that is a ploy to rip you off. They are trying to secure you for two years because there is a lack of engineers. I'd jut be honest with them, tell them that since its in house/non transferable you will not sign a contract because there really i...

Re: Pilot/AME

I Started as a pilot, worked a couple years as groundcrew helping the engineers and took a strong interest to it. Dropped the flying dream as ive always been mechanical anyhow and went to school for my ame M. Managed to get a couple of hours dual time as an apprentice but not much. Once licensed ste...

Re: Turbine or piston (ab initio training)

Don't spend a penny on any extra endorsements as has been said. Once you finally land a flying job the company training/ppc will more than cover the type endorsement. Building hours instructing is common in the States, not in Canada because the requirement for an instructor rating is min (I could be...

there are lots of other companies hiring apprentices right now. I'd never work for those guys personally. Heard too many bad things and would not want to support their business.

Re: Registed Apprenticeship Programs

No you would not be eligible for anything even if you stayed in BC. ITA does not recognize AME apprentices - which is ridiculous. Currently they are airing a TV commercial which flaunts tax breaks and benefits for entering the trades, they show AME's at work 3 different times in the short commercial...

Re: RCMP helicopter crash near Cultus Lake

Sincere condolences to the friends, family, co-workers and the industry for the loss of such an exceptional pilot and person. It is highly unlikely it was a MGB failure, the S-92 you refer to lost MGB oil pressure, and didn't last the 30 minutes run dry requirement it was supposed to. It is most def...

Re: Alleged violation question

AM Radio, thank you for sharing, I was worried that if found guilty it can go on your pilot record and prevent you from holding certain positions within an operation. Ive just found that it takes 2 separate cars violations or a violation under 7.3 of the aeronautics act- so i'm a little relieved. I'...

Hello all, I've got a question regarding an alleged violation. Re: Green streaking on tail rotor?

Your instructor is leading on to a sudden stoppage inspection. Green streaking is most likely caused by tall grass, First place id look is the tail rotor drive shaft. If its a 206/407 the Thomas couplings will be spread apart/ buckled. The astar has alignment marks that should show if the shaft has ...

One adavantage of the pilot/ame is that you will be able to keep employment doing maintenance during slower periods. Exactly.
