I sure am. And yes, he has been pretty unhelpful to say the least. i didn't know he was new.

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

As far as the "Stature of Limitations" goes on an appeal, you may wish to consider an alternative. Simply do a new medical, which will most likely be denied, then appeal that decision. Best wishes What do you mean by the "Stature of Limitations" ? I'm just trying to see how applying again would be ...

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

It's a waste of your time and money unless you have more doctors with more aviation qualifications than Transport has, willing to testify that Transport's doctors all have their heads up their @sses. Good luck with that. Even if you win on the facts, expect to lose at the first review, and have to ...

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

Suspended medicals can be appealed to the TATC but I'm sure there are time limitations from the time the licence was suspended. I'm sure the TATC is the route you will need to go. Hopefully you're not time-X'd on that option. Check the TATC web site for details. Since my medical was suspended about...

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

Yup you've assumed correctly. That's sound advice, but I've already started a new non-aviation career. I've cut my loses and assumed the worse, that I may never fly again. I am doing this strictly for myself. It would be great to still be able to fly for pleasure alone. Even if I would get a full CA...

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

If anyone has any general advice on getting a suspended medical back it would be greatly appreciated. Is the lawyer route necessary? Not sure about the lawyer part, but the first thing you should do is request a copy of every document in your medical and licensing files (2 separate files) from TC a...

Re: Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

As there are no medical requirements for flight attendants, it's odd that TC would have anything to say about that. If you haven't already, you could consider contacting Civil Aviation Medicine directly to ask the question: Civil Aviation Medicine Branch Offices I think in the case of the FA, it wa...

Suspended Medical - Doctor has suggested legal action

So I've had my medical suspended for almost a year now. I had to quit my job because of this which would have led me to a flying spot by now. My doctor recently wrote a letter to the regional aviation medical officer advising that I am fully recovered, healthy and in no way unable to fly. This was n...

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Ramp is a gamble I worked on the ramp/dock for two companies one while completing my training then moved away to work at a 705 operation. The carrot always seemed to get further away and at the end of the season I left. Best decision I ever made and Ive been flying ever since. Mike W Completely agr...

keep your head down and watch where you step, some of the capt crew can get real nasty and make poor decisions about new comers careers and futures Not true. Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Update!! Thanks to all those who gave positive encouragement and sound advice, even though the majority of the "help" wasn't very helpful haha. I got on with my number one choice of the places listed here, and could not be happier. A conservative wait time for me from today would be 6-8 months. Will...

Re: Calm Air

If they didn't hire externally where would they get the pilots from? Well guys from perimeter, bearskin and keewaitin would probably be given preference since they are now all owned by the same company. I supposed that could be considered external, but I bet they won't be advertising on av Canada f...

Re: Calm Air

Maybe this should be a new topic, but I think basing the conclusion that a company is short on a certain position (Dispatcher, FO etc) solely on AvCanada or similar job sites is a bit futile. I completely understand where it is coming from though. Before I got into the industry I did the same thing....

Re: Any current info on perimeter?

Just want to say, I can back up every positive comment in this thread. Started with the company not too long ago and I think its pretty much the best place to start your career in Aviation. If you don't have all your ratings done and can get hired even better. I've seen Metro 2 FOs as young as 19 an...

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Two years from now, you'll still have 230 hours, have forgotten how to fly (if you ever knew how in the first place) lost any relationships you have now, own at least one pair of Sorels and a really big parka, and be a damn fine forklift driver.....Kewl future. :bear: :bear: So tell me, do you have...

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Is 250hrs a min requirement for a type rating? Seems like some companies that hire onto the ramp want 250hrs...Should I be looking to get that since I have 230 now?

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

How did you write the IATRA with 230h, don't you need 250h for that? As for the best way to get that job, even for the ramp is to go see the people and talk to them. Emails and faxes won't get you anything but disappointment. It's 150hrs to write the IATRA. And I know the best way is to see them in...

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

I've already accepted the reality that there are next to no direct entry flying jobs for someone fresh out of school. If I'm wrong then please point me in the right direction. That is the purpose of my question.

Where should I apply to start working ramp?

Hey I'm looking for some advice on getting a start in the industry. I've tried looking through the forums to find an answer but haven't really. I've recently graduated an aviation college program. Commercial Multi-IFR, 230hrs and a float rating on the side. Wrote the IATRA as well. I'm not against s...
