Re: Swoop alum
Since ALPA has a blacklist on these guys and Swoop they will never let these guys or Swoop join ALPA, they will be on their own to fend for themselves without a union. ALPA takes care of it paying members!! BUT he does not seem to get it. Here he is, threatening everyone: Its a small industry gentl...

Re: Swoop alum
Most don’t give a crap about Tbalyx living in a Van. They’re pissed at the man and busting his chops now in every which way. Lest we forget that Tbalyx going to SWOOP was debated on this very forum. Several people pleaded with him over several days to reconsider the move. Whilst no picket lines wer...
Re: One list
Voting no. I welcome the Encore pilots to the WJ seniority list. Respect and appreciation for everything they do for Team Teal. Spent too many years of my career as a regional aviator and I know full well the challenges and demands of what the WEN pilots do on a daily basis. But if management wants ...

Re: China_CAAC's Merged Threads
I wonder if the moderators can ban him just for being a tool. He needs help and this forum is getting overrun with his crap. It’s not even worth reading posts anymore. Soon as he posts, people sign off. +1. Steve Bannon's "Flood the zone with shit" quote comes to mind. The sad thing is, this websit...

Re: New hiring
Noticed there are no more postings for pilots on the WestJet Encore website. Just wondering if they are done hiring for the time being. They always seem to be hiring. Last time I was through the YYC Campus there were 2 newhire groundschools in various stages of the process before sims. If for some ...

Re: The End of the WPDL Confirmed
The entire Encore list was stapled to the bottom of the WS list in June 2014. Plus the original 50 Encore pilots were added to the WJ seniority list in the late summer of 2013. That is why you'll see many DOHs that seem out of order on the WJPDL. Best case scenario for the Swoopsters is that they go...

Re: YYZ 2 hr arrival delays due wind
Hi Cossack - Enjoyed your YYZ perspectives from the ATC tower re the 33 operation in high winds. I was flying on some of the days you mentioned and found it interesting how you guys handled thing. I was also flying earlier this month the day there were three A380s on the ground in YYZ due to high wi...

Re: Things to Consider if Considering Encore
JBI - Excellent response to NCP. I doubt we'll see NCP again in this thread, as he specializes in "hit and run threads" - posting something incendiary, which is usually a gross distortion of facts from a pro WJ management perspective, then not sticking around to deal with the responses. Typically he...

Re: Encore ALPA vote??
Was Mainline ground school set for October cancelled? Why? Because they had hired sufficient people! A normal WJ newhire class would be 8-10 folks. 12 would have been considered large back in the day. There had been several large classes throughout 2017. As in 16 or so. They even squeezed the sim b...

Re: Encore Commuting policy
Anyone willing to volunteer information on what the Encore YYZ based Captain schedule is like? I'm particularly interested in hearing from YHZ commuters (PM if you'd prefer). CGK If you're Halifax based, why not apply at Jazz? Avoid the need to commute altogether. If you live in Halifax, you'll be ...

Re: WJ B-767 Fleet questions
WS also had some contract instructors (I want to say from Boeing) who flew with our pilots in the first few months of 767 operations, to help ensure a quick learning curve for the initial cadre. That is fairly standard ops in the airline world, whenever a completely new type is introduced, factory i...

Re: Westjet pulls back from LGW.......
Could the reduced schedule be because WJ doesn't have the backup with the 767 from Boeing? Or did common sense finally prevail?. Flyer 19-20 LGW flights per week with four B767s isn't an overly aggressive schedule. Even 21, which is what they had last year, left one aircraft as a spare each night. ...

Re: Direct to mainline WestJet
A better option would be to apply to WS Encore right now. I look at your total times and even subtracting for 1-1.5 years worth of flying - you would be competitive for an Encore job. Let's say you were to start at Encore within the next 3-5 months....you would be on the WS seniority list, you'd sta...

I apologize for making that assumption however perhaps you should be more concise with your queries. Something like I'm trying to plan for the future, when I reach 1300 hours etc... Just some friendly AvCanada advice, most of us are tired of the trolls +1. Apply as soon as you remotely think you wi...

Re: Hiring mins for 2017?
My biggest question is why do the moderators put up with the Nicky Nicks of the AvCanada world. This site can be a very useful tool for people working or interested in Canadian aviation. Yet the actions of a few individuals / screen names only serve to drive away hundreds if not thousands of folks w...

Re: Gabor Lukacs being sued by NewLeaf
The larger question is why is New Leaf so threatened by this one individual that they feel the need to sue him to shut him up? If New Leaf were doing as well as they claim, they'd ignore the squeaky wheel. All he's asking for is a $3m bond to ensure stranded passengers can get home when the venture...

Maintenance issues happen to everyone. Two weeks ago WS was the internet villain, today it was AC, and next week it will probably be Transat's turn.

Re: WestJet flights to London prompting a wave of complaints
The problem isn't that the 767s they got turned out bad. It was that WestJet pushed the utilization too high. They thought they could have their cake and eat it too by running high utilization with older aircraft that need more maintenance, more often. They had no excuse not to know that they would...
