Re: Oh the sky keeps falling......

Hi Fish, I think the confusion is coming because there is no specific CRJ or DH8 or Q400 rate, only groups of rates. Our contract (Section 10-9.01 for those that want to see) has 3 groups: "Small Body", "Narrow Body" and "Wide Body" - Small Body is defined as max certified seating capacity to 90. - ...

Re: 2011 Ground Schools

BingBong, It's a good question. Maybe they were considered, maybe they were not. Unfortunately, unless someone is much higher up than the usual contributors here, i.e. the DFO or an ALPA CRC committee member, no one, myself included, can claim to know whether the swing aircraft were counted on from ...

Jazz will not operate "Swing" aircraft. (Loss of 8 RJs)

Released this afternoon, from Canada Newswire, in the Chrous Q1 results news release. It does not effect the minimum covered A/C (125) of which these were to be in addition. Will not results in staff layoffs, but I would imagine however that this will result in the cancellation of a few upcoming gro...

Re: 126.7 FSS

Just before I start, remember services available on an RCO can be either (RAAS), (FISE), or (Bcst) (FISE) means Flight Information Services Enroute. For example, a weather briefing, filing a flight plan etc. (RAAS) means Remote Aerodrome Advisory Service. For example an FSS Mandatory Frequency advis...

Re: Snow-covered flaps before takeoff

YouTube explains the accident cause . . . So does this: http://libraryonline.erau.edu/online-full-text/ntsb/aircraft-accident-reports/AAR82-08.pdf And it's a much more reliable source. (Official Accident Report) what I inferred was the airspeed of the Air Florida did not jive with the engine readin...

Re: Why in the world???

These are 2 pretty contradictory statements. I am curious, as I know TONS of others are as to why people wanna stay. This first one implies you are actually looking for serious, factual, informative posts. The first response is what I was looking for, now chill. This second one references ridiculous...

Re: Why in the world???

*Disclaimer: I don't work for Air Canada, or closely know anyone who does. I don't have any opinion when it comes to the Fly Past 60 issue. I still have 30 + years to retirement, so when I'm talking about people wanting to stay past 60, it's speaking only hypothetically. Regardless of whether you su...

Re: Question for Porter folks

cyxu_pilot, having had the chance to look back over my post, it's clear I was pretty frustrated when I wrote it, and having been in that mindset, I made some off side comments. You didn't claim to have all the answers, you were just asking questions, and didn't try to post as if you were an expert o...

Re: Question for Porter folks

In the time it took for me to reply it seems a few people have come out of the woodwork with the correct answers. The first 1 1/2 pages of this thread were unbelievable. It's nice to see there are people out there who are able to quote the rules correctly. Sanjet in answer to your question Is there ...

Re: Question for Porter folks

I'm having a hard time believing the ongoing discussion on this topic, when the answers are so clearly available in black and white in the guidance material given by TC. People quoting their chief pilots, some FSS operator they talked to one time, and "the last captain I flew with", need to dedicate...

Re: Changing Bases

There is probably differences in the contract though when it comes to a "forced move" and a "voluntary move" (such as a base trade or transfer through a bid). When I base-traded from YUL to YYZ, I worked May 29, had the 30th off, and then was flying June 1. But that was under the old contract back ...

Re: Changing Bases

Actually flyinhigh, a quick look in the contract reveals you DO get days off starting at a new base, regardless of seniority. Have a look at section 21 (MOVING) of the contract: "...entitled to no less than two (2) Travel Days Off (TDO) following his last actual working Day at his Previously Awarded...

Re: Jazz pilots contract?

The short answer: Normal, non penalized retirement date is different depending on when you were hired, and when you will retire. For some people there will be no penalty to retire before 60, for others you will be penalized but only on entitlement earned before a certain date. The long answer: This...
