Re: Reading glasses solutions
...Use progressives which darken in bright conditions... Hi Carrier, Thanks for your suggestion! I'm wondering, if the transitions don't darken sufficiently in the cockpit, why use them at all if you have the gradient clip-ons? I ask, because I already have a pair of progressive glasses at the corr...

Reading glasses solutions
I'm interested in hearing what solutions people have found for using reading glasses in the cockpit. My distance vision is actually 20/20. Here's the issue as I see it: If I use normal half lens readers, I get good reading coverage in the cockpit (gauges, maps etc.) and good outside visibility. Unfo...

Re: Looking to convert FW to RW
Thank you for the info. Yes, for that kind of investment, research is definitely called for. The 30-35K figure is what I've been seeing for 60 hours of piston. With half of that time in turbine it looks like twice as much.

Re: Looking to convert FW to RW
I guess the essence of my confusion is the difference in price between doing the 60 hours as all piston, versus some percentage of turbine plus piston.
Is getting turbine time critical? Would 50 hours piston plus 10 hours turbine be sufficient?

Looking to convert FW to RW
Hi, New to the forum, but I read through the list of threads linked here. I'm a commercial FW pilot with a multi rating and 450 hours. I checked out a couple of Ontario schools to get a sense of what it would cost to convert to RW, but the range of prices was shocking. Can anyone point me in the rig...

Re: Anxiety
After looking around the Transport Canada website, I found this definitive information regarding SSRIs and SNRIs. All drugs of that class are looked at identically. In fact, even getting treatment for anxiety or depression is grounds for suspension of your license. http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviat...

Re: Anxiety
Hi, This forum is a great aviation resource! I was on an SSRI and a SNRI for a number of years, but decided to make a switch to a single medication. The process was quite long, as I had to wean myself off the first two meds before starting the new one. At the time I began flying again (I've held a c...
