Re: Aviation Document Booklet Renewal

I applied in August. Still nothing. E-Mailed TC a couple days ago. This is the reply: "Presently, due to unforeseen problems with the printing press in Ottawa – there is a delay expected before Aviation Document Booklet’s can be printed and issued. We anticipate the above listed issue to resolve Mid...

Apparently money is being made, the route is being switched to mainline.

As for the destination, been once, and that was good enough for me.

Re: Equipment by base

The rouge planes technically, as they do not have reserve, period.
Fastest movement at mainline would be at the junior positions in Toronto, ie. All RP spots and narrow body FO.

Re: I heard there were direct entry ERJ Captains?

Yes. True, at mainline. The last equipment bid had open spots for EMJ captain. The thing is, a new hire will only get to pick from the positions made available during the groundschool, which would likely never include the captain spot. The new hire could bid to EMJ captain on the next possible equip...

Whoa..hold on a sec.

The pilot exits the cockpit while a flight attendant stays in the flight deck for the duration of the controlled rest period?

Also, what are his chances of getting another airline flying job here in Canada.
I'm guessing that after his settlement he won't need to worry about it.

First two are scheduled to arrive at the very end of 2017. Realistically I'd call it 2018 for an official start.

In hiring news:
3 x 20 before the end of 2015. Total 170-190 new hires by summer 2016.

One would think that should flush the pool.

So you're asking what Air Canada will do 700 new hires from now? We don't even know when and what they'll do on the next ground school.

Is the crew rest area more or less comfortable than the 777
Had a peek in. Can't vouch for comfort. The beds are there but there's only one chair which didn't look as good . Beats the 767 and 330 though.

Re: Air Canada Pool

Let's clarify something here. Between this page and the Jazz forum, we're getting dozens of new aircraft yesterday, and the hiring of thousands of pilots is imminent. Here's the deal: There is evidence of maybe 1 (one) newish A320, which may replace an existing aircraft for all we know. The company ...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Oh please, and those captains also get a quarter million dollar wage top up. They also would have passed on other opportunities to flow through to AC over those twenty years, which clearly weren't rich enough. No tears of pity there.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

I heard 700 new hires and 500 retirements in the next 10 years at AC. These are rough figures, so if I'm wrong please do correct me.
That does not add up to 1200 new hires. Still just 700 (of which 200 are new positions). So 62% flow through.
