Are you sure about that? My understanding is that AC is hiring 80% from their CPA carriers, not just from Jazz.gyqapilot wrote:Any word on recent percentages of flow through? I know jazz/ac is 80%

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool
They aren't currently accepting resumes for WestJet on the 737. Last report was they had sufficient folks in the pool to get them through to the end of 2016 for the few that are hired off the street.dtpilot wrote:Anybody know if there is a way to apply to mainline when only an encore online portal is open?

Re: Encore Direct Entry Captain YYZ
As a heads up, I had heard that they are hoping not need DECs, but are pooling some just in case. Depends on how many FOs want to move from YYC to YYZ for the upgrade and how quickly guys get their time to meet the matrix.

...I also hear a number of guys who have flowed to WestJet from Encore are considering returning to Encore as their YOS at WestJet continue to accrue once they come back. Interesting, so now you can go back and make Encore captain pay, and then slot over to WJ FO after like 3 or 4 years and get the...

We have a kind of hub going on in YHZ with flights to YYT, YDF, YQX, YQY, YOW and soon KBOS. We have a number of commuters from YHZ who are probably home more than guys living and based in YYZ, however not sure if the company would want make a permanent move like creating a new base. I know a lot of...

Re: Westjet cuts in BC.
Some routes being removed are WJ, some are WJE. Not much effect on staff levels as the tails are moving to the east and still operating. Encore should expect more triangle and east coast routes to release some of the jets to fly south. It will likely mean more DHs across the country for those based ...

Hey gang. Going YYZ - MCO#1228 next week on the 28th, with my wife, our best friends and their 2 kiddies (3y and 8 mos), and was hoping we would be able to pop up to the flight deck after arrival to say hello and get a pic with the little one up front. She digs that kind of stuff! First time flyers...

Showing signs of coming back to life. GTAA has been doing maintenance recently. A few of the jet bridges have been reactivated. Rumor is that the Syrian refugees may be processed there. Anyone out there to confirm this? And the Kelowna 727's have departed. I haven't heard the Syrian refugee rumour,...

$380000.00  lot of dough How does cost work..does Disney pay some or is it all on WJ's dime? I think most, if not all, is covered by Disney. You might not like flying it, but it's just a paint job (and in this case interior), and the guests love it. It brings in the business, I'll take it.

Like WestJet, they provide accommodation to those who are not based in the location the training is occurring. YYZ based pilots will get accommodation in YYC and vice versa.Panama Jack wrote:They don't provide accomidation during training? :-O

That's fine you're happy but the property and cars didn't come on Encore FO bucks, so don't go misleading the lemmings. I have no intent to mislead. Yes I am a Captain, and came in direct entry. The FO pay is low and I've been there before, but at least for now when you consider that with the growt...

WestJet has a similar policy, you need a primary and secondary flight. If you can't get on either, then you won't be disciplined, however you will lose the pay. They will then try to get you to your pairing or reassign you.

Re: Do people still commute?
Some 45% of WestJet pilots commute. One third of Encore pilots commute. That's no small number. A good number of those commute to YYC.
That's just WestJet. I'm sure there are a lot of Jazz Q and CRJ drivers that commute to YYC from YVR.

The big benefit is for those connecting onto one of these flights from Encore. The addition of an Encore flight from say, YXS to YVR, is only an addition $20.
