Unless you're with Air Canada, don't count on it. Regardless, congratulations on the new job!

Re: Throw in the towel..yes? No?

What?? this is nothing compared to how bad it was in 2002-2003. At least major airlines are hiring these days.... Yes, the majors are hiring.........Lots of people with less time then these people who are out of work. If you are comfortable, dont give up what you have. There you go! Well put "WARBI...

Re: Throw in the towel..yes? No?

I disagree with Sandbagger..... I went back into aviation after a long absence and after 3 years I am now a Captain of a large Turboprop (over 60,000lbs) and make close to 100K/year working less than half the month (with an upcoming GS at AC). I didn't know anyone in the industry that got me a job ...

Re: Throw in the towel..yes? No?

I suppose I was rather abrupt what I said earlier about the industry being at it's worst. Despite what others are saying about this being false and that the "majors" are hiring, I for one know it's pretty bleak out there. There are many ex-Skyservice, Zoom and Canada 3000 pilots either still unemplo...

Re: Porter - This time round

Well regardless of what seat/position that you applied for, if you hear anything, good or bad, please do tell so the rest of us know when the calls do come out. Got a call yesterday and despite my experience I was told the Captain positions I interviewed for back in May are no longer available. Aft...

Re: Porter - This time round

A couple mates of mine just interviewed and one was hired.
Hello AlphaSierra

Are you able to define "hired"? I'm not being a smart-ass as I am in the this "pool" of potential hiree's and I interviewed back in May.

Thanks

Re: How to get more young people in a cockpit?

I, like sandbagger757 above, have over 12,000 hours and several type ratings with time on type and all I do is get older as that drive and desire to fly slowly dies. Unfortunately, all (but for one) of my type ratings are now expired. How do I or others in a similar situation stay current when not ...

"First question I have to ask - can you look back and say that maybe if you had made another decision a few jobs ago before you jumped to lure of the "heavy iron" you might not still be employed and making a reasonable living".

Absolutely.

Re: How to get more young people in a cockpit?

For anyone who is considering being a pilot for their chosen career; think long and hard. I've been fortunate enough to see the world and make some good money doing what I loved to do. I've accumulated 12,000 hours, flown some pretty nice airplanes and met some great people. However, I've had too ma...
