Re: Runway Status Lights in Canada

Maybe new taxi instructions would help.

"Taxi VIA txwy A. Hold short RWY 33L VIA the txwy."

Re: CF-18

I get it. And understand. I just noticed ours look a lot dirty in comparison with other countries. From what I see on the interweb anyways.

Not meant to be a jab to our boys in the RCAF btw. Much respect

Why does our f-18's look so dirty? Is it a budget thing?

Re: Coast Guard helicopter crash off CCGS Amundsen

I know sometimes they take the chopper out for "ice inspection" and have quite some "fun" while doing it. I hope this wasn't one of those time that went bad.

Very sad none the less.

Make sure you bring a zip lock bag to put your tv remote in so you don't actually touch the thing.

Nothing to do with airspeed or torque.

The amazing part of all this is why anyone would willingly do the following.

Fly single engine airplanes in mountainous terrain in IMC and in icing.

Re: To de-ice or not to de-ice !?

What you can do also when you face this situation is before the sun set, throw some snow on the wing and stab. It's easier to broom snow off than to scratch ice with a credit card. It's also cheaper than glycol. But when you got to de-ice, never hesitate to do so.
