Re: $55 charge, for processing medical?!

I was not throwing out a guess. They sent out a letter explaining the reason for billing just before it started. Just because that reason no longer exists does not make my statement into a guess.

Re: Tie Down etiquette at a new airport.

I was tempted to buy a hangar that was for sale several years ago at "Kirkcaldy?". It was only $80,000 but needed some pretty big repairs to the roof. I kind of figured I could not afford to fix it up. Would have been cool though. The airport at the actual town of Vulcan is not the commonwealth air ...

Re: Tie Down etiquette at a new airport.

I heard the Star Trek museum moved from Vulcan to Drumheller. I don't even know how you would check on such a rumour but thought I would post. I think the ship is still in Vulcan though. You might want to check out both. Have fun.

It's a new thing they started in the 1990s. It pays for the AIP updates they stopped mailing out.

Re: Geocaching

I've heard about this moderation thing. The wife and canines got over excited and wanted to go every day looking for a few. It is an excellent way to get us off the furniture. Never got into hiking but going to look for a hidden box to write on seems much more fun. I really like moving the travel bu...

That is interesting.

I'd like to know how well it learned to catch thermals.

Re: Chuck...what say you on this Chinese machine?

Well, looks pretty good, China has come a long way. Canada seems to be going the other way. Oh well, maybe I can teach my kids to make pot metal trinkets or good soup and chicken's feet, so they can make a living in Canada. How much is it going to cost. Sorry Bombardier, I always loved your machines...

Re: Plane Rental in US in a US plane with a US Instructor

I'm not trying to be mean but I might come off that way. You can log it anyway you like. Transport might disagree. I would log it PIC if you have the FAA cert. Enjoy the flights and just fly the extra hours if they require it toward CPL. Nice job if you are flight testing under the required hours. I...

Re: Safe replacement for Vapona Strips in occupied rooms?

Have you considered making one of those wasp traps out of a pop bottle? Put a little butter or meat in it. I'm not sure if flies are better at escaping them or not but could be worth a try.

Great thing to do with kids, they love it :)
Funny you mention that. First few days they loved it. Our son even put on a pirate hat. Soon enough the wife and I got too excited and went too often now they dread it.

I'm off timbits. If it was a daily slice of pizza I'd be more interested.

Knowing where to place ads won't disqualify me will it?

Sorry for brining up a dead thread. But I wanted to share an Excel Sheet I have been working on that does most of what I need. There are two versions that are the same, one just doubled the entries per page so it fills a standard sheet of paper! Works best on google docs I find and can sync using d...

Re: What's the situation like at YBW?

I enjoyed renting from SkyWings in Okatoks then High River. I like Red Deer but that's a big commute from cow town. I would move there though. I almost bought a house in Sptingbrook. I'm back to the Calgary Flying Club at YBW. I'm happy there, I have not spent .5 waiting to take off lately so that's...

Geocaching

I started doing this sort of unintentionally. It gives my wife a good way to lure me into going for pretty long walks which is something I need.

You can buy a premium membership but I'm too cheap. I have bought a travel bug and a commemorative coin.

Looks like a fun little plane. You can use more aileron than you think close to touch down. I was surprised one time in a pretty good crosswind, we were close and I started drifting. The instructor quickly grabbed his yoke and put in way more than I was. That stopped the drift. Then he told me to pu...

Well I feel good too, my blood pressure came down and it will soon be a year of almost steady limited time feeding, 15 hours water only, 9 hours of reasonable choices including occasional beer and pizza or a doughnut. So while I concur the cravings stop, I have known lots of farmers and worked const...

That's good news if you have stocks there or are a midg... Pardon me. A "little person."

Those planes are kind of awful for someone my size. There are plenty of US citizens that make me look small.

Sometimes no news is good news. If they were terrible, you would find some bitching here typically. I'm out of touch with the local scene these days, but have never heard of them. Edit: Ok I quickly skimmed their website. They have a conventional gear trainer plus a vintage Waco. That's a really goo...
