Re: Inhibiting a Flat Engine

Goodmorning AP Besides a fresh oil change I've been spraying the cyls through all the spark plug holes and pulling the prop through and doing it again in an attempt to cover all the wall areas!I used a Canadian Tire engine fogging spray....I forget the name! It's difficult to get the little straw in...

Re: Another Norseman...gone

I would suggest that Pilotdar's intelligent post be the last on this thread that has drifted so far off course! I would also suggest that the wheel is round ...has been for centurys...and works well!.....leave it be! Some of us are much smarter and have way better piloting skills than those that "wr...

Re: Another Norseman...gone

Gentlemen, Corethatthermal has twigged my memory. We were in this discussion years back and I said there was a way to make the small round glassy water lake more manageable. There is no time to set up a normal glassy water landing. Can't do the 250-300ft/min decent. Make a low pass, not 5 ft low bu...

:smt014 Let me get it right..... approach behind the power curve.....lots of power nose up.... ...... transition to in front of the power curve... stuff the nose over more power.... Doesn’t sound like a stabilized GW approach to me.... Might work for aerobatics or crop spraying or something I guess....

Re: Any Caravan EX drivers out there?

It's been a few years.....but.....simply put..... Arguably the fastest thing on floats....... Huge deep V floats that really cut the rough water and draw a good 3-4 feet of water so careful where you go! Uses lots of water to get airborne! Generally it's just a large Cessna 206 and performs similarl...

Re: Twin Otter trivia: Hours held by the highest time pilots?

I asked Old George that question yesterday......he just had his 86th birthday last week and gave up his medical about 2 years ago. He wasn't sure but thinks he started flying the Twin Otter around 1970 until about 2001/2002..... in the busy years they did 800-1000 hours per year.......so who knows.....

Re: C180 found 59 years later.

The RCMP dive team is on site ready to take to the water as soon as the wind subsides!!! About 25 years ago a family member was riding the AC flight deck from YXE -YYZ ,pilots based out of YWG,and in conversation, one of the pilots had flown out of Buffalo Narrows and knew the whole story in detail!...

That's a very generous offer Flyguy......I'm just an outsider who also has offered to help in a different area.....if the RCMP don't deliver maybe the family or advisers will take a look at your offer!

180guy is close to the upcoming events and has taken in your offer!

Just as a reminder.... This particular Cessna 180 was the property of the Province of Sask...Sask Govt Airways ... which became NorcanAir and later merged with other company's to ultimately become Jazz or AC Express etc. The pilot and passenger were both employees of the province at the time. Re: C180 found 59 years later.

I certainly hope authorities raise the wreckage, extract what remains are left and give the victims a proper burial! Flat bottom lake ....40-50 ft of clear water and minimal current.....I don't buy the safety argument! Sad that brother Morris and other deceased family members didn't get closure! Eater
