Re: AIR TRANSAT FALL LAYOFF here we are...

When I interviewed (unsuccessfully) with Air Transat in early 2011, the interviewers mentioned that the company was looking at getting either B737NGs or the A320 series of aircraft and hoping to bring the CanJet flying back in house. At the time, Air Transat was on a hiring binge, and all three peop...

Re: AIR TRANSAT FALL LAYOFF here we are...

Sorry to all affected by this layoff. To what Date-of-Hire do the layoffs go for the pilots? FAs?
Do they think it will be season and that the pilots will be recalled a few months later, like last year with Air Transat?

Re: Air Canada Interviews

Actually Air Canada is hiring lower and lower hour guys... and even guys that have ZERO turbine pic time .... they don't even seem to care about over 12500 time these days either... got a pulse... you're hired!!! Well thats is good news for all the low time pilots out there! But here's the disconne...

Re: reason(s) for a p.f.o.

I also interviewed at AC within the last few months and got PFO'd. Like the originator of this thread, I left the building feeling quite satisfied with my performance. Unfortunately it was not to be, as my PFO arrived via email a few weeks later. I had solid qualifications (7k+ hours, 3k+ PIC, multi...

You sure about that?

I interviewed recently and was told a quarter to a third of those interviewed will be hired.

I hope you are correct :-)

Re: Canjet lays off all YHZ F/As

Besides the stated lack of charter flying out of the maritimes, considering this is KR, could it have anything to do with the fact the FA's are unionized?? Is CanJet down to no charter flying out of the Maritimes? Last time I was thru YHZ (winter months), I saw a few flights coming and going from t...

What about that kid who low-balled everyone a year and a half ago and flew the Cub from the Yukon to Quebec for McDonalds meals. I think he's flying up north in QC - might search this forum as he posts here and see if he can do it. The price will certainly be right with him! :smt040 :smt040 :smt040

Thanks to all those who keep posting the various articles from Ontario newspapers - makes it much easier to keep up with things.

Any idea on if/when Mazza will be charged with anything?

Re: Porter issues profit sharing cheques

The profit pool to be shared was $ half a million.

With 1500 employees, for the year that is ~ $333.33 per person, with some adjustment upwards or downwards depending on longevity and salary.

Everybody has been quick to congratulate the PD employee group, and I'll add my pat on the back.

How much was the profit-sharing check for?

Is their other ways for an AC guy on flat salary to boost the paycheck? Picking up flights on off days? Any chance at time and a half for doing extra work?

If you work hard, you'll fly 90 hrs/month. 90 x 4 = 360 hrs.

All of that time will be FO time, which is useless in the contract community.

Re: ABSOLUETLY reprehensible behaviour..........

Is it just me, or couldn't crew scheduling have pulled an A320 flight crew doing a YHZ/YUL/YWG/YYC/YVR/YEG late night flight and assigned them to the MCO one. As the crew would have already been at YYZ for their trip, this would have avoided the reserve callout and the 9pm customs closure. Then, the...

Re: Air Transat layoff next year

I've heard 16 openings. Sim evals took place this week (feb 6-10). I think those interviewed were told about the possibility of a layoff in the fall. That's gotta suck :( How many people does Transat typically interview to hire 16 people. Knew a guy who interviewed there last year, he made it to th...

Re: Is it time for a move to Air Canada?

Apply, and if you are hired, then worry about the problems you outlined above. With AC, many are called but few are chosen. And if you don't really want the job or have to be talked into it, I could point out a thousand guys who probably would run thru a brick wall for it. West PS: you'll find most ...

Re: PFO letter: The Actual wording (good vs bad)

Good luck in your career - bad. Please reapply in six months - good. For the record no one that I know of in the last round got a call this time - good or bad. Anyone know any different? The calls (or PFO emails) will come....I presume. Regarding the different PFOs, does getting the "good" PFO (ple...

Re: Air Canada Interviews

Hi Batik - Although your qualifications might be impressive by South American standards, in Canada there are literally thousands of guys with thousands more flight hours than you waiting for the AC interview. Many are called, few are hired, and of those that are hired, they come from a wide backgrou...

It depends on which letter you received. There is one that has a pretty final tone to it and one that is a little bit more optimistic. Hey - Is it possible to elaborate a bit more on the two types of PFOs. I interviewed recently and was PFO'd by email in less than a week! Sad thing was, I was satis...

Re: Air Canada's Questionable Hiring Process.

To the originator of this thread: Life isn't fair. AC can hire pilots how ever they darn well choose. If you think that is such a big deal and worth "exposing" to the flying public, how about also enlightening them on WJ, who currently only hire on a buddy system/must have an internal reference. If ...

Hotel to stay at for interview

Looking for some quick advice. Flying up to YYZ in a couple weeks for the AC interview. What is a good hotel to stay at, that is reasonably close to the interview site (within 15 mins walking distance), affordable rates, and possibly a hotel shuttle to get back and forth. Looking for various perspec...
