Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Nothing whatsoever...University Aviation Diploma, ATPL and 3300TT with 2000MPIC 704/703 time and training Captain. I'm surprised to see another AC pilot posting on pilot career center just put up today...still waiting patiently for my iPhone to ring! Just be careful cause the phone won't ring, all ...

Re: Jazz Hatters

I tend to get defensive when people call me "butt-hurt", especially after putting my time in and paying my dues. Did I know about Jazz and what it was offering? Yes. I knew the pay, I knew schedule, I knew the routes, I knew the aircraft. What I didn't know is about the 4 year freeze and the fact t...

Re: Jazz Hatters

And in my experience, it's been those captains who preach professionalism, that never practice it, and do things way outside the SOP's because "that's how I've always done it." One guy in particular had absolutely no idea what calls to make in a go around ffs! And he's been at Jazz for over a decad...

Re: Jazz Hatters

IamnoMaverick: That's pretty arrogant of you sir. First of all, it was a CAPTAIN that said that, not an F/O. Most First Officers I know at Jazz love the uniform and finally "looking the part". I don't agree at all. perhaps you should have clarified cause I have never encountered or seen an instants...

Re: Jazz Hatters

Exactly as Hans pointed out, probably 90% of the guys I know that take issue with the new uniform or the hat are senior captains. Junior captains, and FO's, generally tend to wear the entire uniform and wear is nicely. There are some old guys who still wear the old uniform because "when the company...

Re: Jazz Hatters

I think most FOs feel they aren't being paid professionally, and that would be correct. Does that mean they don't take flying the plane professionally? Especially over a hat? Have you seen anyone fly unprofessionally? Or refuse to put the gear down? I think you are obviously reaching for something ...

Re: Jazz Hatters

Had you have got rid of YOUR FO over a hat. Had I been a paying passenger on YOUR PLANE. Now listen to how STUPID you sound. No not over a hat, sounds like you have a reading problem though cause I clearly said " I couldn't give a damn about why he does not want to wear his hat". If you don't want ...

[quote="HansDietrich" Best answer yet (I heard it in the Lounge at YYZ between two Jazz pilots): - Where's your hat? - At home. - You gotta wear your hat... It's part of being professional - When they start paying me "professionally", I'll start wearing my "professional hat" ***Edit for spelling***[...

Re: Pilot Seniority Porting

How is this any different than a Jazz pilot on the original PML reserving a seniority number at mainline and deferring their course date till they get a few hundred pilots beneath them at mainline? At this point if any pilot with enough experience wants to be at Jazz he would have already been at Ja...

Re: Jazz Aug 31 Equipment BID

also my understanding is you can bid from the classic to the Q because it is not a full course, just a conversion course. So if you really want off the classic, my advice would be bid the Q at any base That has been my experience. However I have not seen it once. The only time I have seen someone g...

Re: Future YYC pilot base?

Thank you everyone for your input. I was just wondering if that would be a possibility in the future as I live in YYC and don't think the commuting life is for me. not even YYC to YVR which I did for a while and wasn't too bad as far as easement. However, with the new fatigue rules you can pretty mu...

Future YYC pilot base?

Being a commuter from YYC and seeing a lot of mainline pilots commute from YYC (it is also a a flight attendant base) I was wondering if starting a pilot base in YYC is a possibility in the future.

Re: PML 2.0

Canoehead hits the nail on the head. I too think Jazz is a great place, I love my work and the family environment here. However, as far as career longevity and financial sense go you would be insane not to transition to the mothership if given the opportunity to. AC dictates what we do and can easil...

Both black tusk and iamnomaverick are referencing numbers pre tax I should add. I did say "take home" and "per diems included"... What I didn't mention also is that I opted to have around $250 a month deducted from my pay to go towards our employee stock sharing program. So you can EASILY break 4k ...

Re: ? how many jazz or wj encore f/o's hold...

When I did charters as a King Air skipper I made 72K, I took home around $4000.00. Working 22 days a month and had to deal with the usual 703 BS. Now on second year FO pay (and including per diems) I take home roughly $3300-3500 a month working around 16 days a month. If I decide to work some overti...

Looking for crash pad in Vancouver

Hello there,

I am looking for a crash pad in Vancouver for May 1st. Or a 1 bedroom suitable for a commuter budget, Will be commuting from Calgary so i won't be there very much once out of Reserve. Must be close to public transit to the airport and amenities as I won't have a vehicle there.

Thanks

Because left seat Navajo pays better than any right seat Q400 job in this country. Both positions require about the same experience. The gap is getting bigger too. Some Navajo companies are actually starting to increase the pay. If you choose the Navajo, the trick is to not drive yourself crazy wit...
